Here's The Sweet Tribute Kate And William Just Paid To Prince Philip On His Birthday
The last few years have not been easy for the royal family, to say the least. After Prince Harry and Meghan Markle stepped down from their royal duties in early 2020, all eyes have been on Queen Elizabeth II and her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. This is especially after Harry and Meghan's explosive tell-all interview with Oprah Winfrey aired in March, in which Meghan revealed that she had suicidal thoughts while pregnant with baby Archie, and that unnamed members of the royal family reportedly discussed how dark Archie's skin tone would be before he was even born.
There have undoubtedly been some moments of light during a dark time for the queen and her family, though, including two new royal additions to the family — Princess Eugenie welcomed her first child with husband Jack Brooksbank in February, and Meghan gave birth to her and Prince Harry's second child, a daughter named Lilibet Diana, in June. And while it seems like it was just yesterday that the death of Prince Philip was announced, members of the royal family are celebrating his memory on what would've been his 100th birthday.
Prince William and Kate Middleton paid tribute to Prince Philip
"Today we remember His Royal Highness The Duke of Edinburgh, on what would have been his 100th birthday," Prince William and Kate Middleton wrote in a short but sweet statement posted on their official Twitter account on June 10 (via Page Six). "Last week, The Queen was gifted a Duke of Edinburgh rose by @The_RHS, of which Her Majesty is Patron."
Fans of the royals issued their own sweet statements about Prince Philip on his birthday, with one fan tweeting, "Aw this is really lovely Prince Philip is so missed by everyone but I'm sure he is fine now with the angels," while another tweeted, "Happy birthday in Heaven, dear Prince Philip."
Although Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have yet to publicly make a statement about Prince Philip on his 100th birthday, Harry issued a sweet statement about his grandfather at his funeral in April, saying, "You will be sorely missed, but always remembered — by the nation and the world. Meghan, Archie, and I (as well as your future great-granddaughter) will always hold a special place for you in our hearts" (via Town & Country).
