What Does Niko Moon's Good Time Mean?
Rising musician Niko Moon started on the country scene as a songwriter. The 38-year-old grew up in a family that loved classic country tunes. He told The Boot, "My dad was a really big fan of John Prine. So I grew up on John Prine, Kris Kristofferson, Emmylou Harris — really singer-songwriter-type country artists. That was what they were listening to a lot, which gave me a deep respect for a well-written song." He utilized this knowledge to work with country legends like Rascal Flatts and the Zac Brown Band. Moon has co-written many No. 1 songs including "Homegrown," "Loving You Easy," and "Heavy Is The Head" (via WBWN).
After years of successfully writing songs and producing for other artists, Moon signed a recording contract with Sony Music Nashville/RCA Nashville. In 2020, the singer released his debut single "Good Time." The upbeat track earned Moon a spot on the top of the Billboard Country Airplay chart and launched his singing career on a high note.
Niko Moon just wants to help people have a 'Good Time'
Niko Moon's "Good Time" is a perfect summer song. The track promotes having fun with your friends and focusing on the sweeter aspects of life, such as sitting around a campfire, playing the guitar, and drinking with your loved ones. In an interview with The Boot, Moon explained the origin story of his debut single. He told the publication that he initially wrote the song to pitch it to other country artists but no one picked it up. When it was time for Moon to start recording his own album he decided to use the song himself.
He explained, "I thought, 'You know, if a line or two was changed here and a line or two was changed there, and we sped it up and kind of put my vibe on it, this would be a really great song for the album and would fit in well with all the other songs.'" Moon also added that "Good Time" sums up the message he wants to put out into the world. He wants to tell people to remember that life is short and stressful so it's important to have a good time. Moon continued, "I just wanna help people, if they're a little stressed out or whatever, be able to come to a show and just for that hour, forget about it for a moment, and have fun with their family and friends."
