The TikTok Makeup Trend You Should Try For A 'Glass Skin' Dewy Look

TikTok is back at it again. This time around, the popular social media platform is only affirming what the rest of the beauty-obsessed world already knew — that dewy skin is in. Dewy skin is also known as "glass skin," due to the glowy, glass-like appearance of the skin. Similar to other recent beauty trends, glass skin hails from South Korea, according to IPSY. "Glass skin is when your skin has that ultimate luminous translucent radiant glow; it's beautiful and healthy," makeup artist and aesthetician Desireé Delia told IPSY.

Aside from doing your best to maintain a healthy lifestyle that includes drinking plenty of water, eating a balanced diet, and exercising, upgrading your skincare routine is the best way to capture the glass skin look that you covet. Instead of piling on the beauty products, opt for those skincare staples that work to transform your skin. "It's not so much about the number of steps, but what your skin needs to be at its absolutely healthiest," Peach and Lily founder Alicia Yoon told Glamour. "Cleanse properly; either double cleanse or use a cleanser that can both dissolve makeup and remove water-based impurities. Balance your skin's pH with a toner. And hydrate, hydrate, hydrate."

Recreate the glass skin trend by giving your skincare routine a makeover

For starters, those who wish to achieve that perfect dewy finish will need to ensure that their skin is clean and devoid of all dead skin cells. According to IPSY, this can be achieved by double cleansing your skin with cleansing oil or micellar water cleanser and a water-based cleanser. After that, exfoliating your skin will clear dead skin cells that will only clog your pores and minimize efforts to achieve a dewy look. From there, you'll slather on a hydrating toner, serum, moisturizer, and mask to seal a healthy layer of moisture in your skin.

Aside from skincare products, Delia told IPSY that glass skin can also be achieved through a strategic array of makeup. "Glass skin can easily be achieved with makeup," Delia told IPSY. "My favorite tricks are using a few drops of facial oil in my foundation and cream or liquid highlighter." To top off the look, add a cream blush, shiny lip gloss, and brow gel to your eyebrows.
