Extreme Sisters: How Brooke's Relationship With Baylee Really Affects Her Marriage - Exclusive
Family relationships don't exist in vacuums. From parents and siblings, to cousins and beyond, each bond impacts all the others in the family. This is especially true for the strange triangle formed between sisters Brooke and Baylee and Brooke's husband, Denver. As viewers will see on TLC's new reality show "Extreme Sisters," Brooke and Baylee, nicknamed The Candaces, have a unique bond that Denver doesn't quite know what to do with.
According to an exclusive interview with The List, Brooke and Denver have been together for more than six years and have two children together. Their relationship is generally pretty good, with Denver supporting Brooke in all her reality TV dreams. "Denver ... is a full supporter of just me, in general," Brooke told The List. "When the opportunity came [to be on TLC], it was a no brainer. I mean, we've obviously talked about it and ... he enjoyed it." But when it comes to Brooke and Baylee's bond, Denver isn't as accepting. Here's how Brooke's relationship with Baylee really affects her marriage.
Brooke's husband, Denver, and Baylee have a good relationship
In general, a big part of a good marriage is getting along with the spouse's family. Thanks to Brooke and Baylee's extreme relationship, it's absolutely crucial that Brooke's husband, Denver gets along with Baylee. Luckily, for the most part, he does. "For the majority of it? It's pretty good," Baylee told The List of her relationship with her brother-in-law. "We do have our disagreements sometimes, but I feel like it's pretty good. He really always sticks up for me, which I really appreciate."
Brooke agreed, saying, "He does love her. He really does love her. And so that's awesome."
Denver and Baylee might get along so well because he's appreciative of how much she's helped his family when times were tough. "Baylee has been there for us through so much," Brooke explained. "Baylee was really there a lot, whenever I needed her. He worked a lot when my daughter was born ... I had to go to school. So she watched Ace all the time for me whenever I had no nobody else."
Brooke's extreme relationship with Baylee has put a serious strain on her marriage
Brooke, Baylee, and Denver's unique relationship isn't all good, though. Denver is sick of sharing his wife with his sister-in-law, but Brooke has no plans to distance herself from Baylee. "Well, he's kind of struggling," Brooke revealed to The List. "[Denver says] 'You're, my wife. When we get married, it's me and you; it's not me and Baylee' ... In my head, I'm like, 'Okay, like, you're just going to have to deal with this.'" She said they often have "heated discussions" about the issue and that Denver "just doesn't get it." The biggest source of drama? The fact that Baylee sleeps in the same bed as Brooke and Denver.
"It's not that big of a deal if she sleeps in our bed," Brooke declared. But, as this season of "Extreme Sisters" will show, Denver does think it's a big deal. And he's had enough. "Moving forward in the season, he does kind of put his foot down," Brooke admitted. "And you'll get to see that ... it's definitely out in this season."
New episodes of TLC's "Extreme Sisters" air Sundays at 10 p.m. ET/PT.
