The Foundation That Selena Gomez's Makeup Artist Swears By
If you've ever looked at Selena Gomez's makeup and wondered what her secret is, you're in luck. Picking the right foundation is crucial to a successful makeup job, and Hung Vanngo, Marc Jacobs Beauty Global Artistry Ambassador, is sharing some secrets. Vanngo has done Gomez's makeup for red carpet events (other clients include Emily Ratajkowski and Sophie Turner), and he's been kind enough to share the foundation he swears works miracles.
The product is Marc Jacobs Beauty Shameless Foundation, which retails for $74 (per L'Officiel). Just what makes this particular foundation so special? In addition to its accessibility for all skin tones, Vanngo says its ingredients are key.
"It has a semi-matte finish and comes in 29 shades. You also don't need to add a powder on top because it sets on its own," Vanngo told Byrdie. "It lasts all night — I've been using it on all my clients. It's simple to get the right shade, too, because each color is labeled with either a Y for yellow undertones, or R for red/pink undertones and so on."
Here are some of Selena Gomez's other favorite makeup products
Although Selena Gomez, of course, uses products from her own makeup line, Rare Beauty, her skincare and makeup routine includes a variety of brands and products.
According to Teen Vogue, Gomez starts the day by cleansing her face and then applying Tatcha's Dewy Skin Moisturizer. She shared that the most important skincare product she uses is sunscreen. Of course all of us should be vigilant about wearing sunscreen, but it's even more important for Gomez because she has lupus and one symptom of the illness is photosensitivity (via Lupus Foundation of America).
Gomez's sunscreen of choice is Drunk Elephant's Umbra Sheer sunscreen. Once she's taken care of protecting her skin, it's time to apply makeup. Some of her favorite makeup products include Benefit Cosmetics Hoola Bronzer and Marc Jacobs eyeshadow palettes. Gomez is also a big fan of Huda Beauty's Legit Lashes Double-Ended Volumizing and Lengthening Mascara (via Teen Vogue).
Rare Beauty is also a staple in Gomez's makeup collection and she frequently wears her brand's lipsticks, brow pencil, concealer, and blush. It's also worth checking out the Rare Impact Fund, which Gomez launched in conjunction with her makeup brand to raise awareness about mental health. According to the Rare Beauty's website, 1% of all sales go to the Rare Impact Fund with the ultimate goal of "increas[ing] access to mental health services in educational settings."
