Why The MTV Movie & TV Awards' Best Kiss Moment Left Fans Seeing Red
The MTV Movie & TV Awards have been full of moments fans are sure to love. One of the most anticipated awards of the night is always Best Kiss, which promises to bring the sexy between two co-stars who shared a steamy lip-lock on screen. Some couples who have won the award over the years have even recreated their iconic kisses on stage.
Not many presenters have decided to smooch on stage, but this year changed all of that. The award for Best Kiss was presented by TikTok sensation Addison Rae and Tanner Buchanan. The two are set to star in the upcoming remake of the 1999 film "She's All That," titled "He's All That" (per IMDb).
The two teased a kiss as they introduced the award, but went on to name all of the nominees. When they cut back to the presenters, they were engaged in a serious make-out session that the crowd reacted strongly to.
Twitter didn't love the idea as much as the audience did
While fans on-site at the MTV Movie & TV Awards were excited to see Addison Rae and Tanner Buchanan's kiss, the audiences watching along were not all too thrilled. "I really didn't need to see addison rae making out on my screen," one viewer tweeted. "I get that it's the best kiss award but ... is kissing on stage THAT necessary?" another person asked.
Some believed the kiss was staged to tease fans with the chemistry between the co-stars. Most weren't seeing that chemistry, however, and actually found the kiss really uncomfortable. "This is kinda awkward and unnecessary," a viewer noted.
That wasn't where the kissing ended either, thanks to "Outer Banks" stars (and winners) Chase Stokes and Madelyn Cline. In keeping with tradition started by award-winners before them, the two also locked lips. It was a little more natural than most considering the two have become an item since filming the Netflix series (per ET).
