This Tupperware Stain Removal Hack Is Taking Over TikTok
If you've ever stored any kind of colored sauce in Tupperware, you know about the stains that are so difficult to remove. No amount of scrubbing or washing seems to get them out, leading many people to eventually just throw the soiled Tupperware away.
But one TikTok user has a life hack that has gone viral and it's so simple that it's hard to believe. AdiKempler posted a short video to her TikTok account describing the easy process. First squeeze a few pumps of dish soap into the stained Tupperware. Then add warm water until the container is about half full. Place a few pieces of torn-up paper towel into the water, and seal the Tupperware lid closed. Next, shake the Tupperware vigorously for 45 seconds to one minute. Remove the paper towel pieces, rinse out the soapy water and enjoy your freshly cleaned and stain-free Tupperware!
But was it sleight of hand?
So far, the video has been liked more than 594,000 times and shared nearly 44,000 times. It's received almost 5,000 comments. These are mixed, with people doubting that AdiKempler actually showed the same pieces of Tupperware at the beginning and end of the video. Because there is an edit midway through the video, some people claim she swapped the dirty Tupperware for a clean one. The poster explained in the comments that the edit was for time and she indeed used the same piece of Tupperware for the entire demonstration.
None other than Martha Stewart also offers a way to clean stained food containers, this time using dish soap mixed with baking soda. Combine two tablespoons baking soda, one teaspoon water, and a quarter of a teaspoon of dish soap into a paste. Coat the stained Tupperware with the paste and let it rest for 15 minutes. Scrub and rinse it out. Repeat if required.
Tupperware can absorb the color of red sauces if it is poured into them while warm, or if the container is heated. To avoid stains, wait until the sauce is cool, or store it in a glass container or jar.
