Will Harry And Meghan Name Their Daughter After This Royal?
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have made it clear that they're over the moon about expecting their second child together. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex revealed that they would be making their son Archie a big brother with a sweet pregnancy announcement on Valentine's Day, per ELLE. The pair posed for a beautiful black and white photo in front of a tree as Meghan showed off her growing baby bump, which they posted along with the announcement. The date of the reveal also held a very special meaning for the couple as it was the same day that his parents, Prince Charles and Princess Diana announced that they were pregnant with their second son.
During their controversial tell-all interview with Oprah Winfrey in March, the pair revealed that they were set to welcome a little girl sometime this summer. "To have any one or any two, but to have a boy and then a girl — what more could you ask for?" Harry told Oprah of his joy about welcoming a daughter (via CBS). The couple also revealed that they don't plan to have any more children following the birth of baby number two. "Two is it," Meghan told the former talk show host.
Now that Meghan's due date is quickly approaching, everyone wants to know what the couple will name their daughter. Although they surprised many by naming their son Archie, the odds are that baby girl Sussex could be named after a member of the royal family.
Harry and Meghan could name their baby after someone very special
With Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's baby girl on the way, U.K. gambling site Ladbrokes is revealing the odds for the new royal baby's name. According to People Magazine, the odds of the couple naming their child after Harry's grandfather Prince Philip have increased since his death in April. "The support for baby Philippa is showing no signs of slowing down, and we've been forced to trim the odds again that it's the name for Harry and Meghan's daughter," Jessica O'Reilly of Ladbrokes told the outlet.
Of course, there is talk that Meghan and Harry could decide to name their baby girl after Harry's beloved mother, Princess Diana, who tragically died in 1997. Other family names that oddsmakers are predicting include Elizabeth after Harry's grandmother, and Victoria. Odds are that the couple may also name their baby Alexandria, Grace, Emma, Rose, or Alice as well.
Hello! Magazine also reports that the pair could choose the name Allegra, which was the girl's name that Diana had picked out while pregnant with William and Harry. "Allegra remains a contender at 11/1 as it is reported the late Princess Diana favoured the name to use the moniker if she ever had a daughter of her own," Peter Watton of OddsMonkey stated in March. Although Meghan and Harry have not confirmed their due date, they did admit that their baby girl would be born sometime this summer.
