The Truth About How Long Harry And William Have Really Been Feuding

Prince William and his younger brother Prince Harry have always seemed like close siblings and friends. However, the past few years have taken their toll on Prince Charles and Princess Diana's sons. Currently, the brothers are involved in some highly publicized drama and are said to have a large rift between them (via Insider). However, that was not always the case. William and Harry grew up in the spotlight of the royal family and in the shadow of their parent's marital woes, but seemed to maintain a good relationship with one another. They were often seen spending time together and attending royal events side by side.

In 2011, when William married Kate Middleton, Harry stood next to him as his best man (via Us Weekly). In his speech, Harry called William "the perfect brother," and claimed to love Kate like his very own sister. Harry, William, and Kate began to work side by side and even created their own campaign to bring awareness to mental health issues. However, reports of tension between the brothers began to brew when Harry began dating his now-wife, Meghan Markle.

Sources claimed that William was concerned that his younger brother was moving much too quickly in his relationship with the American actor. Harry and Meghan married in 2018, and since that time, the brothers' bond has appeared to be shaky at best. Now, their mutual friend is speaking out about the current state of William and Harry's relationship.

Prince William and Prince Harry's relationship is currently strained. The brothers have reportedly been feuding since Harry and his wife Meghan Markle announced their plans to step down as senior members of the royal family in January 2020 (via The Sun). Harry and Meghan left the U.K. and are currently living in California. Meanwhile, William continues his royal duties as he prepares to become the future King of England. In the months since their exit, Harry and Meghan have publicly criticized the royal family. In March, the couple sat down for a tell-all interview with Oprah Winfrey, where they opened up about living within the confines of the famous family.

Now, William and Harry's mutual friend, journalist Tom Bradby, revealed that things have been especially bad between the brothers for the past 18 months (via Page Six). "It used to be quite a straightforward thing, right, because they weren't arguing and life was simple," Bradby said. "And then it just slowly descended into something that was difficult — personally and publicly — really over the past year and a half."

Recently, Harry returned to the U.K, for the funeral of his grandfather, Prince Philip. The homecoming marked the first time that Harry and William had met face to face since his exit from the royal family and his shocking Oprah Winfrey interview. Although Meghan was not with him, sources tell Us Weekly that the meeting was a small step towards the brothers mending their relationship.
