How To Get Angela Bassett's Oscars Makeup
The 93rd Academy Awards were held on Sunday, April 25, 2021. This year's event was pretty special, as it was the first time the Oscars have been held since the advent of the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. To make matters even more fun, celebrities walked the red carpet and were decked out in their finest garments. Awards season is always a fun time to spot new trends and fashions, and the Oscars are no exception. Luckily, the Academy was able to host the event while following strict health rules and protocol at the same time.
Last night, many people were floored by Angela Bassett's ensemble. She walked the red carpet in a gorgeous floor-length gown designed by Alberta Ferretti. Of course, fans have come to expect nothing less than an incredible look from the star, and she was happy to deliver it.
Viewers were particularly enchanted by Bassett's eye make-up. Luckily, it's not too hard to do yourself.
Angela Bassett's Oscars eye makeup isn't too hard to pull off
Angela Bassett and her makeup artist, D'Andre Michael, thought outside the box while putting together her Oscars look. Of course, the results speak for themselves. Instead of opting for traditional black eyeliner, the pair decided on navy, which is both an unexpected and a delightful choice. According to Glamour, Michael lined Bassett's eyes with Lancôme Hypnôse 5-Color Eyeshadow Palette in Bleu Hypnotique and Le Crayon Khôl in Black Ebony.
Bassett is no stranger to daring styles, as her stylist Jennifer Austin was only too happy to show off on her Instagram feed this weekend. Austin was on hand to outfit the star for the 2018 premiere of Black Panther. She explained to Yahoo! that, "Angela is the Queen of Wakanda in the movie so I wanted that to be seen on the carpet for the premiere. I pulled references from our African culture: the tribal women from Ethopia and Nigeria, and from the Indian culture as well! I wanted the jewelry to be big, gold and excessive."
