The Truth About Married At First Sight: Unmatchables
Mark your calendars, Married at First Sight, fans because the hit Lifetime franchise is adding another new spin-off to the MAFS universe. Married at First Sight: Unmatchables premieres on Wednesday, April 21 (via Lifetime), and follows sixteen applicants from previous seasons who didn't make the cut and were — as you can guess — dubbed "unmatchable."
As fans know, the original MAFS series follows three to five couples who've been matched by the show's experts throughout the course of the series. Each episode of Married at First Sight: Unmatchables, however, will focus on one couple at a time, and Pastor Calvin Roberson and Dr. Viviana Coles work together to coach the individuals and try to make them into marriage material. At the end of each episode, the couple will go on a date to see if they're a match for one another. Per Distractify, MAFS: Unmatchables is basically the love child of Married at First Sight and Queer Eye, which makes for an interesting concept.
MAFS: Unmatchables has an eclectic, diverse cast
Per Reality TV World, some of the most notable cast members include Danielle, a conspiracy theorist who thinks Earth is flat and that "monogamy is a scam," Renisse, who loves "wizards, magic, and sex bondage," Ervin, who's broken off four engagements, and Xavius, a funeral director in training. However, just from what they've shown in the previews, viewers are actually on the fence about the spin-off. "This show is failing to realize that's what married at first sight is becoming. Matching bad couples for drama. Viewers don't want that," one Twitter fan wrote, while another echoed that sentiment, adding, "Our hope is that you will cancel this and put more effort into the original MAFS. This current season is a flop" (via Twitter).
Not all MAFS fans are against the spin-off, though, and many viewers can't wait to watch the chaos unfold on-screen. "So ready for this," one social media user commented on an Instagram post featuring the trailer. "This is going to be sooo good," another Instagram user wrote.
You can catch Married at First Sight: Unmatchables on Lifetime on Wednesday, April 21, at 10 p.m. ET.
