Queen Elizabeth Eats This Breakfast Cereal Every Day
The first shocking revelation about Queen Elizabeth's morning meal is that she actually eats breakfast cereal. Because didn't you expect that she would enjoy a Scotch egg or perhaps a decadent pastry each day? Instead, the royal's breakfast is decidedly, well, pedestrian. In fact, there's a pretty good chance you have eaten the particular cereal she favors many times.
First, it's worth noting that according to Woman's Day, Queen Elizabeth drinks a cup of Earl Grey tea before she eats anything. She takes her tea plain, with no added sweetener or cream or milk.
Then, it's on to her cereal of choice — Special K. And according to Reader's Digest, the highest ranking royal in England uses a regular, old bowl. Nope — no golden, jewel-adorned relic from the 1300s in sight at her breakfast table.
Meanwhile, Queen Elizabeth does like to mix it up every so often. So what does she enjoy for the most important meal of the day when she's had her fill of Special K for the week? Well, again, you may be disappointed with just how normal those meals are, too
What else Queen Elizabeth eats for breakfast
In addition to enjoying Special K — which, incidentally was one of the best-selling cereals in the United Kingdom in 2018 and 2019 according to The Grocer — Today reports sometimes Queen Elizabeth will eat toast with marmalade, or scrambled eggs, which she likes to pair with salmon, and even a grating of truffle.
But Darren McGrady, who was a chef for the royal family in the 1980s and '90s revealed to the Telegraph about Queen Elizabeth, "She was too frugal to ever order fresh truffles. She only really enjoyed them at Christmas when the truffles were sent as a gift."
It's worth noting that truffles are actually fungus, but are considered a delicacy according to Wide Open Eats. But even a queen does not indulge in this coveted food on a regular basis. She's too busy eating Special K. And, in the end, we bet you'll feel a little more, um, special the next time you pour some Special K in your cereal bowl.
