Anna Faris Reveals The Heartbreaking Reason For Her Divorces
Anna Faris has been married twice. Her first marriage, to Ben Indra, lasted from 2004 to 2008. A year after her divorce, she married Chris Pratt. The marriage ended in 2018. Faris is currently engaged to Michael Barrett, and she's determined not to make the same mistakes she made before.
Marriages are complicated, of course, and the reasons they end are as well. Faris admitted at least one thing that got in the middle of her past relationships, though: "competitiveness." As she explained to guest Gwyneth Paltrow on her podcast, Unqualified (via E! News), "My two other marriages were with actors and I don't think we did a great job of eliminating competitiveness. Or at least I didn't, being a proud person, and not wanting to reveal vulnerability."
Faris elaborated, "Any hint of competitiveness and comparison, I didn't handle that very well, I don't think. And I hope I've grown from that."
Anna Faris has hinted at the 'competitiveness' in her relationships before
Faris previously opened up about the end of her marriage with Indra. Faris wasn't as famous as she is now when she married him, and it was her growing fame that drove a wedge between them. "That kind of destroyed my marriage," she told Marie Claire in 2011. "The divide became too great."
Faris' podcast comments also line up with what a source told Us Weekly last year about the end of her marriage with Pratt. "He never felt 'good enough' for Anna Faris, and then when their relationship started to go downward, he was angry and not liking who he was," they said.
Hopefully, things will be easier with Faris and Barrett. While Barrett is also in the entertainment industry — the two met while Faris was filming 2018's Overboard — he's a cinematographer, not an actor, so that should at least cut down on some of those feelings of "competitiveness" that Faris has experienced in the past.
