Why Fans Are Worried About Matt James
Matt James may have ended his run as The Bachelor, but he's still feeling the weight of the media attention. James signed on to be the first Black lead of the long-running ABC dating series (via NBC News). His season was met with excitement and teased to be one of the most dramatic of all time. Of course, fans tuned in to see how James would deal with the plethora of women vying for his attention. Shockingly, during the show's run, one of James' frontrunners, Rachael Kirkconnell, came under fire when racially insensitive photos from her past surfaced (via Cosmopolitan).
James ended up picking Kirkconnell at the end of his season. However, the two did not get engaged. During the After The Final Rose show, James confirmed that he and Kirkconnell had ended their relationship following the photo scandal. James told fans that he stepped back from the romance with Kirkconnell in order to allow her to work on herself. Just hours after the drama played out on television, James sparked concern when he posted an alarming tweet.
Matt James' tweets concern fans
According to TMZ, Matt James took to his Twitter account one day after The Bachelor finale aired. In one tweet, he suggested that he needed to seek therapy. The statement immediately had fans talking. The outlet claims that ABC was also concerned about his social media message and is offering to help the reality star in any way possible. During an appearance on Good Morning America, James told host Michael Strahan about the pressure he felt throughout his season. "I felt the weight of everything I was carrying throughout the season and with what we were dealing with as a country, and having to explain that and why it was problematic to me and our relationship, which was extremely difficult," he stated (via Deadline).
James also went on to reveal that his struggles may have been worth it, claiming that maybe he had to leave the show without a wife to create growth within the nation. "I would say that the conversations that have come from everything that's taken place are more important than anything I could have left with," James admitted to Strahan. Screen Rant reports that Bachelor fans are now wishing James the best during this turbulent time in his life.
