Whatever Happened To Kevin Skinner From American's Got Talent?
With his blue jeans and baseball cap, Kevin Skinner humbly took the stage of America's Got Talent. Under his image were written the words "unemployed farmer" (via YouTube). But when the country music singer/guitarist began to sing "If Tomorrow Never Comes" by Garth Brooks, he wowed the judges — and went on to become the Season 4 winner of AGT.
Originally from Mayfield, Kentucky, Skinner had been singing and writing songs since he was a child. But his audition song so impressed AGT judges David Hasselhoff, Piers Morgan, and Sharon Osbourne that they sent him straight to the Quarterfinals — without having performed (via AGT Fandom). Not too shabby for a guy who used to work as a chicken catcher. Skinner told the judges that he had helped round up as many as 60,000 chickens in a night.
During the Quarterfinals, he performed Bob Dylan's "Make You Feel My Love" and then Brenda Lee's song, "Always On My Mind" for the Semifinals, for which received a standing ovation from AGT judge Piers Morgan. In the Finals, he sang "I Don't Want To Miss A Thing" by Aerosmith for which he got a standing ovation from all three judges. So, whatever happened to Kevin Skinner from America's Got Talent?
Here's what happened to Kevin Skinner after AGT
As the season 4 winner, Skinner snagged the $1 million prize and a headlining show in Las Vegas — but not before making a quick detour. Apparently, Skinner put on a free concert in his hometown before hitting the road for his Las Vegas show (via WKMS.org). He performed for 6,000 fans in the Graves County High School gym.
After his AGT win in 2009, he released his album, Long Ride, in 2010 which received mostly favorable reviews (via Amazon). But it seems that Skinner faded from the limelight since then. As of this writing, his Facebook page — with his profile pic showing him standing next to country music legend Willie Nelson — hasn't been updated since 2012 (via Facebook).
And in 2014, it was reported that the father of two was missing after he texted his family that he had fallen near his home via (Radar Online). After his family filed a missing person's report, Skinner was found safe but was said to be suffering from depression after the end of his marriage.
Since then, there's not much known of the country singer and AGT winner. Hopefully, Skinner returns to the stage at some point so fans can hear his music once again.
