Why Jennifer Lopez And Alex Rodriguez Went To Therapy
Superstar couple Jennifer Lopez and Alex Rodriguez may be worldwide celebrities with millions in the bank, but turns out they're just like us — needing to work on themselves and their relationship from time to time. Stuck at home for quarantine turned out to be a challenge for the pair, but Lopez told Allure about a silver lining that came from it, saying, "We got to work on ourselves. We did therapy. I think it was really helpful for us in our relationship."
It sounds like it may have been based on how much having to stay at home changed their day-to-day lives and how they each responded to it. Lopez said, "I miss being creative and running on 150. But Alex, of all people, was like, 'I love it. I love being at home. I love doing my Zooms. I love knowing the kids are there, and you're there all the time.'"
Along with working on their relationship, Lopez talked about what else they did in the pandemic, saying at first it was just a stressful and anxious time for her and her family, but then, "I started trying to do things together. We would play baseball outside or paint together. We never get to do stuff like that. I was trying to take advantage of the time."
Jennifer Lopez is making lemons out of lemonade with the pandemic
Jennifer Lopez has worked to see the good in a challenging situation. She told Elle, "Everybody's quarantined and the world is upside-down and crazy. So we've gotta make lemonade out of lemons right now, don't we? We have to find ways to focus and work from home, but also finding things to keep our spirits high. [...] we have to stay human and we have to keep our sense of humor in hard times, as well." And in an interview with Today, she acknowledged the benefit of being stuck at home; we have "dinner together every night. [...] That part I love."
Lopez and Rodriquez were set to get married in Italy in June 2020, but the pandemic put a stop to that (via US Weekly). Hitting the brakes on the wedding plans, she said "was a big deal. We had been planning for months and months and months, and it was overseas." The singer commiserated with Today host Hoda Kotb, since Kotb also postponed her wedding, about being disappointed over pushing the wedding date, but she could still see the sunny side of it, saying, "God has a bigger plan so we just have to wait and see. Maybe it's going to be better. I have to believe that it will be."
