The Truth About The Actor In The Dr. Squatch Commercial

It's an unofficial rule that if you're gonna air a commercial on Super Bowl Sunday, not only does it have to be memorable, it has to make folks feel some type of way. Whether it's stirring up emotions like Toyota or leaving folks divided like the Flat Matthew commercial, a brand has 30 seconds to make viewers across the U.S. either love them or hate them.

Then there are ads like the Dr. Squatch commercial that left folks on Twitter definitely feeling tingly. In the commercial, folks see actor and comedian James Schrader breaking the fourth wall and speaking directly to viewers, specifically the men in the audience, reminding them that they "aren't a dish," but a man and their soap should reflect that. According to Just Jared, one fan has been using the soap for some time and can verify that "it's good stuff." Another fan noted how the ad held lots of charm and charisma, which can only be attributed to Schrader's unique delivery.

This isn't the first time James Schrader has worked with Dr. Squatch

Per his personal website, James Schrader is a comedian, writer, actor, and proud father, who happens to have a multitude of licenses (he can sail and fly a plane). The Florida native wasn't always in front of the camera. Prior to 2011, he worked for his family's construction company as their COO, and as if by chance, in 2011 he decided to sign up for an improvisation class and the rest was history.

According to his site, Schrader has performed at places like The American Comedy Co., The Comedy Palace, and has opened for the likes of Tom Rhodes and Pablo Francisco. But it wasn't until 2018 that the comedian teamed up with Dr. Squatch soap, something that opened up his world to working with brands to create memorable commercials like the one that aired during Super Bowl LV (something he documented on his Instagram account with a picture with his son).

The Looper notes Schrader has created some longer format Dr. Squatch commercials as well — like special holiday commercials for Halloween and Christmas. In his spare time, Schrader also loves to read, meditate, and receives lots of training in the patience arena thanks to his three-year-old.
