Larry King's Last Social Media Messages Are Heartbreaking
Early this morning, on Saturday, Jan. 23, it was announced that award-winning journalist, television host, and radio personality Larry King died at the age of 87. Though his cause of death was not disclosed, King had been hospitalized with COVID-19 at Cedars-Sinai in Los Angeles at the end of last December (per CNN).
Throughout his nearly seven decades of experience, King earned an Emmy, two Peabodys, and 10 Cable Ace Awards for his time spent as the host of shows like The Larry King Show, Larry King Live on CNN, Larry King Now, and Politicking with Larry King (via CNBC).
Despite the fact that King was an incredibly successful journalist and media giant, his personal life received just as much attention throughout his decades of time spent in the limelight. This attention was mostly due to the fact that, over the course of six decades, King married seven different women a total of eight times (yes, that's right — he married one of his former spouses twice). From these eight marriages, King had a total of five children: Andy King (who died at the age of 65 in 2020), Larry King Jr. (age 59), Chaia King (who died at the age of 51 in 2020), Chance King (age 21), and Cannon King (age 20) (per Newsweek).
In the months before his death, King posted several heartfelt tributes to the love that he shares with his children on his social media profiles.
Larry King posted heartfelt messages to his children just months before his death
In the months before he died, King posted a series of pictures and heartfelt messages about his children. In fact, the media giant's last two posts on Instagram were with his children. His latest post, dating back to October 2020, celebrated the 2020 World Series win of the Los Angeles Dodgers with his two sons, Cannon and Chance (via Instagram). A recent post from Thanksgiving 2020 on his Twitter account echoed this affection for Cannon and Chance. "Happy Thanksgiving!" King wrote. "I'm thankful for my boys and dinner from Craig's!"
In August 2020, King's children Andy and Chaia died within mere weeks of one another, with Andy suffering a fatal heart attack and Chaia dying of lung cancer. After those losses, King posted what would inevitably become his second-to-last post detailing the magnitude of this loss and how much he adored his children. "Losing them feels so out of order," King said in a post on his Instagram account. "No parent should have to bury a child. My family and I thank you for your outpouring of kind sentiments and well wishes."
Though King is gone from this world, the love he experienced for his children will be felt and memorialized forever on his social media pages.
