Selena Gomez's Latest News Has Fans Excited
Selena Gomez's music has been helping fans get through quarantine. She released her third solo album, Rare, in 2020, with fan-favorite singles "Lose You to Love Me" and "Look at Her Now" solidifying its number-one spot on the Billboard 200 chart. In January 2021, Gomez celebrated the one-year anniversary of Rare in an Instagram story. She posted a group photo with her fans and wrote, "Can't believe it's been a year since Rare was released. So much has happened but wanted to let you know I love you guys (via People)."
Since her first break into the music industry, Gomez's songs have connected with listeners around the world. Every single she drops or music video that she shoots has its own unique story or quality to it, which explains her music's longevity and her impressive 33 million monthly listeners on Spotify.
Gomez is getting ready to smash through the charts again with a new single.
Selena Gomez is embracing her Latin roots with her new single
In a January 2021 Instagram post, Selena Gomez teased the release of her new single "De Una Vez." Her caption gave away zero details about the song beyond the title, but that didn't stop her comment section from blowing up with excited fans. One user wrote, "QUEEN WE WILL BE STREAMING," while another commented, "Been waiting for this."
Eagle-eyed Twitter fans figured out that new music was coming days before her announcement after spotting murals in Mexico promoting song titles "De Una Vez" (which turned out to be true) and "Baila Conmigo," according to iHeartRadio. Gomez even liked some of the posts, making the murals all the more convincing.
Gomez's music is generally classified as pop, but this isn't her first foray into the Latin music scene. Before her solo career, Gomez's band, Selena Gomez and the Scene, released their first Spanish song, "Un Año Sin Lluvia," in 2010 and translated their hit single "Who Says" into Spanish, according to Billboard. Her vocals on DJ Snake's 2018 smash hit "Taki Taki" connected with fans and even inspired a series of viral dance videos on YouTube.
Now that Gomez is tapping into her Latin roots, her reach will only grow from here.
