Why The Bachelorette's Brendan Morais Doesn't Regret Leaving The Show

Brendan Morais may have been the one to end things with Tayshia Adams on The Bachelorette but that doesn't mean the decision was an easy one. Brendan self-eliminated on the season, surprising fans who thought that Brendan might win Tayshia's final rose.

In an appearance on The Viall Files podcast, Brendan said that he's still sure he made the right decision when he walked away, as painful as it was. "I don't regret anything, but I'm still sad about it — absolutely still sad that that's the way it played out," he said (via People).

Brendan explained on the show that, while he thought he was ready to move on after his divorce, competing on The Bachelorette made him realize he still has some healing to do. "I want the wife and kids and a family more than anything on the face of this earth," he said. "But then [I've been] coming to the realization that there's a big part of me that's still broken, there's a big part of me that still needs time to heal. There's a big part of me that needs time to grow."

Brendan Morais is happy for Tayshia Adams and Zac Clark

Brendan feels like, in a different setting, things could have worked out differently. "I feel like if I had more time and I could've removed Tayshia from that [show] bubble and really see how our lives meshed together... we could have dated, and potentially more," he said. "But when you're protecting yourself and when you don't want to get hurt again, you do things that self-sabotage what could be an amazing thing. So I definitely think it could've played out differently if a few things had changed."

Seeing how happy Tayshia is with her new fiance, Zac Clark, makes Brendan feel a bit better, though, and he thinks things happened the way they were meant to happen. "Just knowing how in love Zac was with Tayshia and seeing the mutual love they had for each other, I'd say she would've chosen Zac anyway," he said.

Tayshia and Zac seem thrilled with their engagement and are excited to start their lives together. "There's no end in sight," Tayshia told Glamour.
