The Untold Truth Of Isabella Rose Giannulli

Unless you've been living under a rock, you've heard of the infamous college admissions scandal of 2019. The plot, which included several celebrities and well-to-do members of society, saw quite a few parents shelling out money to administrators and coaches in order to get their high school kids admitted into fancy universities. One of the biggest names of the scandal was Lori Loughlin, who along with her husband, Mossimo Giannulli, was accused of (and eventually pleaded guilty to) paying people off in order to get their two daughters, Olivia Jade and Isabella Rose Giannulli, into a more prestigious college.

Operation Varsity Blues, as it became known, thrust the family into the spotlight in a major way, and people became obsessed with the goings-on of the entire Loughlin-Giannulli family. Olivia Jade and Isabella Rose were all people could talk about for the foreseeable future. But while Olivia Jade has opened up more since the scandal, her sister has remained pretty quiet. So, what's the deal with Isabella Rose Giannulli? Well, the untold truth of Lori Loughlin and Mossimo Giannulli's more subdued daughter is pretty intriguing.

Isabella Rose and Olivia Jade Giannulli are close in age

Almost immediately following the news that Lori Loughlin and Mossimo Giannulli were involved in Operation Varsity Blues, people began to wonder what was going on with their daughters. As far as Olivia Jade Giannulli was concerned, her large social media presence and plenty of YouTube vlogs made it pretty easy to piece together who she was. On the flip side, her older sister, Isabella Rose Giannulli, was less of a public figure before the scandal broke.

Isabella Rose was born on September 16, 1998. And then, Isabella was shortly followed by the arrival of her younger sister almost exactly one year later: Olivia Jade was welcomed into the world on September 28, 1999. The duo are so close in age it might be easy to forget that Isabella Rose does have a full year on Olivia Jade, and might just be a little wiser for it, too.

Isabella Rose Giannulli is 'proud' to be Lori Loughlin's daughter

Despite all the drama and rumors surrounding Isabella Rose Giannulli and her entire family, the young starlet remains forever appreciative of her mother, Lori Loughlin. One look at Giannulli's Instagram, and it becomes clear that not only does the firstborn daughter seriously resemble her mother (to the point where one might think the subject of this picture is Loughlin not Giannulli), but she also makes it a point to shout out her mother's love when she gets the chance.

In fact, on Mother's Day 2020, Giannulli took to her Instagram to post two sweet photos of herself as a little toddler alongside her mom. "The strength mothers' have is unparalleled, I think they might be the closest thing we have to superheroes," Giannulli captioned the photos. "Happy Mother's Day Mama, I love you. I'm so proud to be your daughter today & everyday." No matter what Giannulli and her family deal with, it's clear that she will always love and be forever grateful for her mom.

The private high school that calls Isabella Rose Giannulli an alum

While much has been said about Isabella Rose Giannulli's collegiate career, her own high school was actually pretty noteworthy. As you might expect with a child in Hollywood, Giannulli kind of had a large selection of really great high schools to attend. And in fact, Giannulli attended a private high school, but not just any private high school. As the daughter of a famous actor as well as a famous fashion designer, it shouldn't be surprising that Giannulli got the best of the best growing up. Still, her high school was more than just a nice, private school. It was practically a college-level education in and of itself.

According to Closer Weekly, Giannulli attended Marymount High School in Los Angeles. The school describes itself pretty intensely. As the Marymount High School website puts it, the institution is "an independent, Catholic, all-girls school with the core purpose of educating and empowering young women to live lives of consequence as ethical leaders with a global perspective and an unshakable commitment to the common good." The school must be prestigious, as tuition costs $37,040 per year, minimum. So yeah, Giannulli had a fairly impressive high school education.

The acting career of Isabella Rose Giannulli

As young as Isabella Rose Giannulli is, she still got to try her hand at one certain career step before she even finished college. Giannulli got a chance to follow in her mom's very specific footsteps when she acted in three different television shows and movies.

Yes, Giannulli already has a bit of an acting career. In addition to a guest role on Alone Together in 2018, she also got to work alongside her mother, Lori Loughlin, in a couple of projects. Specifically, she and her mother starred alongside each other in not one, but two, Hallmark Channel Christmas movies — yes, those cheesy, predictable flicks that seem to be on all day every day during the holiday season. While the movies might not have been groundbreaking, the genre did give Giannulli her first go at acting, and there's no denying that it was probably a wonderful environment, as her mother was once hailed as the Queen of Hallmark.

Lori Loughlin and Isabella Rose Giannulli worked together

It's no secret that Isabella Rose Giannulli's mother, Lori Loughlin, is a pro at acting. And when it comes to made-for-television movies, Loughlin shines. Still, there was no way for Giannulli to know that she would take to the film industry as well as she did, and in her first acting role, she found herself falling in love with it. Not only was Giannulli thrilled to get to act, but she was delighted to work with her mom.

In an interview on The Today Show, Giannulli appeared next to her mother, Loughlin, while discussing their first-ever Hallmark Christmas movie together, Every Christmas Has a Story. In the interview, Loughlin is visibly excited and proud to be there with her daughter, and Giannulli clearly felt the same way. "She wants to be an actress now," Loughlin said, while praising her daughter's silver-screen debut. "I look up to her, obviously, like she's my mom and she's so talented so like having her by my side the whole entire time was amazing," Giannulli explained. The experience of filming a heartwarming movie with her mom was pretty incredible for Giannulli, and she definitely loved getting to work with someone she loved and admired so much.

Isabella Rose Giannulli appeared on her sister's YouTube channel

Now, if you've read anything about the college admissions scandal, then you know that Lori Loughlin's youngest daughter, Olivia Jade Giannulli, has a very popular YouTube channel and films quite a few vlogs for her followers and fans. And while Isabella Rose Giannulli has an impressive following on her Instagram page, she hasn't been as active on YouTube as her sister.

However, she has appeared in a few of her sister's YouTube vlogs, and appears to be quite supportive of that particular endeavor. In one vlog in particular, Isabella is seen hanging out with Olivia and a mutual friend while they get ready for the day. While Olivia is more talkative in the video, it's clear that Isabella isn't as comfortable sharing every aspect of her daily life with strangers on the internet. In the clip, Olivia details so much of her life to viewers, while Isabella barely pops in the frame for more than a few seconds at a time. Later, Isabella doesn't understand a slang term used by her sister, and Olivia teases her, asking "are you a hundred?" Clearly, Isabella is a lot more low-key than her younger sister.

Here's where Isabella Rose Giannulli went to college

Because of all the scandal surrounding both Isabella Rose and Olivia Jade Giannulli's college admissions, it's no wonder that people were curious where they went to school. After all, their parents were accused of shelling out $500,000 to a man named Rick Singer, who was the mastermind behind the entire college admissions scandal in order to get their daughters into college. So, where did that half-a-million land Isabella? The University of Southern California, as it turns out.

However, after news of the scandal broke, many wondered if Isabella was still enrolled at USC. According to USA Today, the university released a statement at the time, regarding both Isabella and Olivia's enrollment status. "USC is conducting a case-by-case review for current students and graduates that may be connected to the scheme alleged by the government and will make informed decisions as those reviews are completed," the statement read. However, by October 2019, USA Today reported that after starting at the university in 2017, Isabella was no longer attending. But for about two years, Isabella got a great education at USC, whether or not she was let in on her own merits.

Amidst her parents' scandal, Isabella Rose Giannulli remained quiet

Isabella Rose Giannulli might be more reserved than her sister, Olivia Jade, but she was especially quiet in the wake of her parent's headline-making transgression. In March 2019, when news of the college admissions scandal bubbled up, Isabella stayed fairly mum about everything that happened. She didn't break her silence on Instagram until July 28, 2019, when she shared a photo she took with her mother. "Happy birthday mama. I love you," Isabella wrote, along with a red heart emoji. With that one post, Isabella made it clear where she stood, and that was right by her mother's side.

However, as much as she supported her mother, Us Weekly reported that Isabella might have been more aware of what was happening with the scandal than previously assumed. Assistant U.S. Attorney Justin O'Connell wrote a memo to the judge specifying that both Isabella and Olivia were in on it to some degree. "They involved both their daughters in the fraud, directing them to pose in staged photographs for use in fake athletic profiles," the memo read, in part. So, as quiet as she has been, it sounds like Isabella may have not been totally in the dark.

Isabella Rose Giannulli isn't super active on social media

Even though Isabella Rose Giannulli has two famous parents and a younger sister with quite an impressive social media presence, the oldest daughter of Lori Loughlin and Mossimo Giannulli isn't as active on social media as others. Now, this isn't to say that Giannulli doesn't have a lot of followers, because she has over 250,000 followers on Instagram alone. But compared to her younger sister, Olivia Jade, who has well over 1 million followers, Isabella is a lot more low-key.

In fact, in a 2016 interview with BUILD Series, Giannulli explained that she didn't even think of herself as being truly popular on social media, despite having a few hundred thousand followers. "I just have followers from [my mom] mostly and then like my sister's YouTube followers," she said, staying very humble. Of course, once Giannulli started her film career, she was bound to land a few more followers, and when the college admissions scandal broke, more and more people were intrigued by Isabella. But still, she has remained pretty quiet and doesn't post much on her Instagram.

Sorority life was a part of Isabella Rose Giannulli's college life

For a lot of young adults, one of the biggest (and most exciting) parts of college life is rushing a fraternity or a sorority. When Isabella Rose Giannulli started her college journey, she, like so many coeds, decided that getting into Greek life was something she really wanted to experience.

However, following the news of Isabella's parents involvement in the college admissions scandal, Us Weekly reported that she and her younger sister, Olivia Jade, were apparently kicked out of their sorority, Kappa Kappa Gamma, at the University of Southern California. However, People would go on to debunk this report. "The story regarding these two individuals is false," a representative from Kappa Kappa Gamma told People in a statement. "Bella Giannulli remains an active member of the Delta Tau chapter of Kappa Kappa Gamma."  The rep also noted that Olivia Jade "did not complete the membership process," so she wasn't in the sorority in the first place. Meanwhile, Isabella was in a sorority while she was at college, but since she eventually left USC, she's probably less involved with Kappa Kappa Gamma nowadays.

Isabella Rose Giannulli calls her sister her best friend

If you have a sibling that you're especially close to, then you likely know just how fun it can be to have someone who is basically always there for you and grow up together. And that's something Isabella Rose Giannulli knows first-hand. Both Isabella and her younger sister, Olivia Jade, are incredibly lucky to be so close to each other. Seriously, they're basically one year apart in age, and because of that have basically been like twins and tight-knit friends from the start.

"I love it," Isabella told BUILD Series when asked about having a sister so close in age. "She's like my best friend. Like a built-in buddy since birth. She's like the one person like I know I can rely on for like anything so it's amazing." Isabella also added that she thought of herself as her sister's ultimate support system. "I'm her biggest fan," she said. Aw, those two really have each other's back through thick and then. And they've surely needed each other's support eer since their parents' scandal became public knowledge.

Isabella Rose Giannulli was 'rattled' after her parents were sentenced

Perhaps one of the most interesting aspects of the college admissions scandal as it relates to Isabella Rose Giannulli's parents was how long they went without pleading guilty. Actor Felicity Huffman pleaded guilty for her role in the scandal relatively quickly, but Lori Loughlin and Mossimo Giannulli held out for over a year. After they were sentenced, a source told Us Weekly that they hoped their sentences wouldn't overlap in order to make things easier for their daughters. "Lori wants one parent to be free to provide emotional support to the girls," the source said. "Lori's concern all along has been Isabella and Olivia Jade." (Loughlin and Mossimo's jail time did end up overlapping.) As another source told the publication, both Isabella and Olivia were "rattled by the proceedings" and "have been focusing more on family."

Isabella and Olivia continue to stick together. When asked about her sister on Red Table Talk, Olivia said, "She's kinda more laid back and relaxed, so she's like a little bit, I think, calmer than I am throughout a lot of this in terms of just feeling emotional with parents being away or whatever it is."

How Isabella Rose Giannulli has coped with her parents going to prison

Listen, Isabella Rose Giannulli didn't exactly grow up having to struggle or deal with money issues. As the daughter of two successful, high-profile people, she's more or less always been well-off. And after her parents, Lori Loughlin and Mossimo Giannulli, headed off to serve their prison sentence for their role in the college admissions scandal, Isabella handled things in her own way. Instead of staying home and hiding from the public, she basically went on vacation.

As Page Six reported in November 2020, Isabella was "spotted relaxing with buddies beachside at the five-star Rosewood Miramar Hotel in Santa Barbara, Calif." just days after her father reported to prison. And a few weeks before Isabella made the quick trip up to Santa Barbara, her mom surrendered herself to start her own sentence. To quote Page Six's story about Isabella's excursion, "We all cope how we can."
