Here's Why Chelsea Houska Left Teen Mom 2

South Dakota native Chelsea Houska graced our television screens for ten seasons after she appeared on MTV's 16 and Pregnant. According to People, Houska and her husband, Cole DeBoer, decided that it was time to step back from reality TV. Her Instagram post read, "MTV's Teen Mom 2 has been a big part of my life for almost 11 years. After much thought and discussion with my family and friends, Cole and I have decided that this season will be our last. We are forever thankful to MTV and our crew, who are like family to us. We're parting on the best of terms and will stay in touch long after this."

"We're proud to have been able to share our story and are so grateful to the fans who have followed our journey from the beginning," she shared. "Our next chapter in life will focus on developing our brand and taking things to the next level with new endeavors and expanding family businesses. Please tune into our last moments on the show and continue to follow along our journey on social media. We are so excited for this next phase of our lives and hope you all will be a part of it in some way!"

Chelsea Houska is pregnant with baby number four

Perhaps even more reason to take a step back from the hit show, Houska revealed that she's pregnant with her and DeBoer's third child this summer, People notes. The couple will welcome a girl in 2021 and add to their growing brood. On top of expecting another baby, the DeBoers are currently building their dream home, InTouch explains. The pair met in 2014 and married in 2016, then welcomed son Watson and daughter Layne, according to the outlet.

As for her time on Teen Mom 2, Houska proved to be the stabilizing force for the often-volatile show. She told Entertainment Tonight before her departure that her goal was to set an example for other young mothers. "It was either I can be this stereotypical or whatever anyone thinks of a young mom, or I could prove them wrong, you know?"

She continued, "And even if I didn't have the show, like I did, I wanted to go above and beyond and prove people wrong. I've always wanted to be a mom, this is what I always wanted in life. I get so overwhelmed with drama that I know to just distance myself and not be a part of it otherwise," she said. The outlet also notes that she was the first original cast member to leave on her own, after Janelle Evans' removal from the show following her legal troubles.

While the show won't be the same without her, Chelsea seems to be moving on to bigger and better things.
