The Real Meaning Behind Bella Hadid's New Arabic Tattoos Revealed
Aside from modeling, Bella Hadid is known for fashion-forward looks and her knack for taking risks with her ensembles. Just recently, she just debuted a few tattoos to complement her unique style.
The model's tattoo artist, Doctor Woo, shared a few shots of her new ink on his Instagram page on Sunday, showing off the sleek Arabic script the influencer received on both of her arms, just below each shoulder. "Some writings for the always kind and lovely @bellahadid #hideawayatsuitex #slimneedle," the artist captioned the post with the shots of Hadid's arms in black and white. The Arabic writing apparently translates to "I Love you" on one shoulder and "my love" on the other side.
Hadid, who's the middle sister to Gigi, 25, and Anwar, 21, is Dutch and Palestinian, with her father, Mohamed Hadid, born in Nazareth, Israel. The tattoos seem to reflect her Middle Eastern background, which makes sense seeing that the 23-year-old shared with Vogue Australia in 2017 that she was "proud to be Muslim." She also revealed in the interview, "My dad was a refugee when he first came to America, so it's actually very close to home for my sister and brother and me. He was always religious, and he always prayed with us," she said.
These aren't the first tattoos for Bella Hadid
This isn't the first time Hadid has gotten some ink on her body. She has had a couple off other tattoos done in the past to express her individuality.
As Us Magazine reported, the style star typically went to celebrity tattoo favorite JonBoy for her designs, getting multiple tiny tattoos that speak to her unique tastes. In January 2017, Hadid reportedly received little wings on both ankles, and, just a few months later, opted for a small rose on the back of her left arm. Hadid likely found JonBoy through word-of-mouth, as he's known to be an A-list favorite serving clients like Taylor Swift, Hailey Bieber, and Kaia Gerber.
Hadid found another A-list confidant in Dr. Woo, as the artist has done work for the likes of Miley Cyrus, Zoë Kravitz, and Jessica Alba. Last year, with Us Magazine, the tattoo specialist shared how he creates his designs using Adobe Document Cloud. "Five years ago, I'd have to manually scan an idea and wait for someone to get to their computer, check their email, and get back to me with their thoughts," he said in a statement. "When everyone is on the same page, it makes communicating a breeze and keeps people inspired."
