Mary Trump's Dire Prediction If Donald Trump Wins

We know there is no love lost between Mary Trump and her uncle, who also happens to be the president of the United States. And if Donald Trump succeeds in winning a second term, Mary is predicting dark days ahead. During an interview with Joy Reid on MSNBC before the elections,  Mary Trump tweeted: "I put together a panel [of experts] a few days ago ... The message is ... Donald has [apparently] done everything in his power to dismantle every institution that comprises the U.S. We're looking at an authoritarian state if we allow him to continue unimpeded."

Mary thinks her uncle is desperate to stay in power, and she believe there is a reason for this, telling The New Yorker: "He knows that if he doesn't manage to stay in office he's in serious trouble. I believe he'll be prosecuted, because it seems almost undeniable how extensive and long his criminality is. If it doesn't happen at the federal level, it has to happen at the state level." Mary says the president will suffer if he is rejected at the polls, because for the Trump family, "losing was a death sentence — literally and figuratively."

How accurate is Mary Trump's post-election prediction?

The president is already reacting to the counting, which resumed in Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, Michigan, and several other states. The morning after election day, he tweeted: "Last night I was leading, often solidly, in many key States, in almost all instances Democrat run & controlled. Then, one by one, they started to magically disappear as surprise ballot dumps were counted. VERY STRANGE, and the 'pollsters' got it completely & historically wrong!"

The Twitter-verse reacted at Trump's comment, with one user posting: "This is the electoral version of 'the only reason we have so much COVID is because we test so much!' i.e. 'the only reason I'm going to lose is because we count all the ballots!'" Another replied: "It wasn't magic, it was counting the votes. Not strange at all. If this bothers you brace yourself for Pennsylvania." A third tweeted: "You were never leading. They COUNTED election day votes FIRST because Republican legislatures blocked the counting of early absentee ballots. Those ballots were cast weeks ago. In other words, you were always losing."
