The Surprising Reason Christina Won't Be At Tarek El Moussa's Wedding
Exes Tarek El Moussa and Christina Anstead have gone out of their way to make it known that they have developed an amicable relationship after their divorce. After all, the former spouses share two children, Taylor, age 10, and Brayden, age 5. And it turns out both El Moussa and Anstead are okay that the other has moved on and found love again.
Of course, Anstead recently shocked fans when she announced she was splitting from her husband Ant after less than two years of marriage. Meanwhile, El Moussa is set to walk down the aisle with his new love, Selling Sunset star Heather Rae Young. By all accounts, the Christina on the Coast star and the soon-to-be new Mrs. El Moussa are on very good terms. But that doesn't mean the former Mrs. El Moussa is invited to her ex's upcoming summer 2021 nuptials.
"No, no exes at the wedding," El Moussa told Entertainment Tonight. In fact, the wedding is going to be small, and not on TV. "Less distractions, more intimate, better conversations with the people around us. You know, we just think smaller is better," the Flip or Flop star explained.
Christina Anstead didn't even know about Tarek El Moussa's engagement initially
El Moussa also revealed to ET that both Taylor and Brayden will be in the wedding, although their mom will not be in attendance. It turns out Anstead wasn't initially consulted before her ex proposed to Young in July (via Today). Young explained to ET about that decision, saying, "I'm helping raise the kids, so I think she knew like how important my role was, but no. It's different. We have our own life and we respect her as their mom and we co-parent but we're a couple. We don't need to sit down with her and discuss that."
Nonetheless, Anstead told E! News about finding out about the engagement, "Of course! And I couldn't be happier for them. They're very happy." No word on how she feels about being excluded from the wedding guest list. But it's worth noting that El Moussa wasn't invited to his ex-wife's wedding to Ant Anstead (via People). In fact, he found out about the surprise ceremony when photos emerged online. "When I first got them, I just sat there for a few minutes and thought about things, and it was kind of like a release. It was kind of like, I was really okay with it. I was happy with it," he said at the time, adding that he texted his congratulations to his ex that very night.
