Did A Fly Get Stuck In Mike Pence's Hair During The Debate?
During the debate between Vice President Mike Pence and VP hopeful Kamala Harris, viewers were treated to a curious sight — it appeared a housefly found its way to the hair of VP Pence himself. It definitely was a bright spot, of sorts, in a contentious debate between the two politicians, and was commented on by scads of people on social media.
"Did no one realize that Mike Pence had a fly on his head during the debate??" writes Twitter user @GenZsocialist. "It stayed there for a good few minutes." Actor Robert Picardo quipped, "Flyover candidate?" Another tweet summed up the debate in a few short phrases: "Flies, Lies, and Pink Eyes." Also, it became clear, to someone anyway, that the fly certainly made its mark on American politics: "The winner tonight: the fly on Mike Pence's head."
The fly became a social media darling almost immediately
The fly was only on stage for a brief amount of time, but it's likely its legacy will live on — on social media, anyway.
It wasn't long before the fly itself, of course, started a Twitter account — aptly named "FlyStuckInPencesHair." In the bio, it writes, "The worst day of my life was October 7th."
The fly was also noticed by former Vice President Joe Biden, who is hoping to win the presidential election is less than a month. In a tweet, he writes, "Pitch in $5 to help this campaign fly," accompanied by the presidential hopeful himself holding a fly swatter.
