The Truth About Terry Bradshaw's Wife, Tammy

Legendary NFL Hall of Famer Terry Bradshaw is enjoying a career renaissance of sorts thanks to the E! reality show "The Bradshaw Bunch," which is already a major hit on social media. One person described it as "too funny" (via Twitter), and another admitted (via Twitter) to being "hooked," advising, "Terry Bradshaw is hilarious!"

The show takes a warts-and-all look at life on Bradshaw's 800-acre ranch, where he's the only dude among four women: his loving wife, Tammy, and his three daughters, Rachel, Lacey, and Erin. (There are also hundreds of horses, cows, and even a donkey named Snoop Donk.)

"I got three girls, which means I have three problems," the former Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback quipped in the premiere double-episode, according to E! News. Although playful Tammy mostly takes a backseat to her husband's over-the-top antics, her connection to Terry is clear. And it turns out that Tammy and Terry Bradshaw's relationship stretches back even further than you might expect.

Tammy is Terry Bradshaw's best friend

Tammy Bradshaw is Terry Bradshaw's fourth wife. As The Cinemaholic notes, it was shared hardship that brought the couple together in 1999, when the retired athlete was suffering from health problems and Tammy, then Tammy Alice, was going through a nasty divorce from ex-husband David Luttrull.

After meeting, they lived together for the following 15 years with their three daughters, including Lacey from Tammy's previous marriage. Terry admitted to Closer Weekly: "[We were both] coming out of bad divorces and when I was getting close to her, I'd run and hide for six weeks, then come running back. I said, 'There's nobody getting their hands around my heart again.'"

Tammy never got impatient, however. They eventually married in 2014, with little fuss. "I passed her in the hallway and said, 'Oh listen, we're getting married Tuesday in Hawaii.' She said OK and we kept going," Terry recalled. "We get there, and she said, if you're serious, we need to get a license. So we got one." The NFL icon described tying the knot with Tammy as marrying his "best friend."

Tammy Bradshaw suffered a terrible tragedy

Although Tammy Bradshaw found her soulmate in Terry Bradshaw, she suffered an unimaginable loss in 2009. Her son from a previous marriage, David Jr., who went by Cody, died of an accidental heroin overdose at his mother's home (via MyDeathSpace).

His obituary in The Dallas Morning News noted that Cody passed away a month ahead of his 24th birthday. He was Tammy's eldest child. "He will be greatly missed and remembered fondly by his family and many friends for his big heart, great sense of humor, and recent excitement over his new job as a train dispatcher with the railroad," it noted.

Heavy reports that the Bradshaws have since dedicated themselves to spreading awareness about opioid addiction. They appeared on "Celebrity Family Feud" in 2019, winning $10,000 for the 525 Foundation, which was launched by parents who lost kids to opioid overdoses. Terry appears as a special guest speaker at the organization's Indiana event every year, while Lacey has hosted fundraisers for the foundation on her Facebook page.

Terry Bradshaw considers Tammy his "angel"

During the Season 2 premiere of "The Bradshaw Bunch," Terry and Tammy Bradshaw renewed their vows in swoon-worthy fashion. As People reported, the pair was enjoying a romantic Hawaiian vacation at the time — with the rest of the family in tow, naturally. The athlete pulled out all the stops, even proposing to Tammy again, years after they'd officially tied the knot.

"Our wedding was perfect, and he was so handsome," she recalled. "It's hard to believe it was seven years ago." To which Terry objected: "What do you mean he 'was?' It was only seven years ago. Have I gotten ugly since then?" During a confessional, Terry later admitted to being hesitant about getting married again after enduring three previous divorces. "I knew I had to get married overnight or it wouldn't happen at all," he explained.

Terry's daughters weren't included the first time, either, due to the ceremony's brevity, so they were thrilled to take part this time around. Their daughter Lacey even officiated, while her daughter Zurie acted as flower girl. The renewal took place on a scenic beach.

"I think we can all agree these two have grown into a perfect match," Lacey gushed, later describing the couple as "an unstoppable force" and "the leaders of this family." Terry, meanwhile, told Tammy: "It's a joy to call you my wife. ... God gave me an angel when he gave me you."

An intimate dinner followed the ceremony, at which fire dancers performed.
