What You Need To Know About 90 Day Fiancé's Angela Deem
One of the most memorable couples to come out of the 90 Day Fiancé franchise is Angela Deem and her Nigerian husband, Michael Ilesanmi. Angela first met her 20-some years younger boyfriend Michael in person on the second season of 90 Day Fiancé: Before the 90 Days (via ET).
Since then, they've worked through all kinds of drama onscreen, from Michael's cheating to culture clashes with his family to fertility struggles. Despite all their problems, Angela and Michael are still together ... in part thanks to Michael's strategic use of cake to placate his fiery fiancé. Now, Michael and Angela are sharing the next stage of their journey in the newest season of 90 Day Fiancé: Before the 90 Days. But Angela is such a character that there's plenty about her that the cameras aren't able to catch.
Angela and Michael have almost definitely tied the knot
Angela hasn't officially commented on her marital status yet. The Blast published photos and videos of what looks like a wedding ceremony, complete with Angela in a lacy, low-cut white dress and Michael in a purple suit. The ceremony took place after Michael was officially denied a K1 visa, which would have allowed him to enter the country as Angela's fiancé. It seems likely that the ceremony took place in Nigeria, since marriage in Michael's home country would ease his transition to coming to the United States as Angela's husband.
A social media post seems to confirm that Michael and Angela made things official (via In Touch). After her mother passed away, Angela posted an announcement on her Instagram. Part of the announcement read, "Survivors include her daughter Angela Deem and son-in-law, Michael Ilesanmi of Hazelhurst." Angela didn't provide additional comment on the announcement, possibly due to the reality show's strict NDAs.
Angela has translated her reality fame into cash
Angela's antics have brought in plenty of money for TLC, so it's only fair that the Georgia native be able to make a little extra income from her following. When she's not sharing pictures of herself with Michael or goofing around with her grandkids, Angela's Instagram is full of sponsored posts, often for weight loss products. Angela has over 300,000 followers, which means she might make about $1,000 per post (via Influence).
Another way Angela is cashing in on her fans? Talking to them directly. Angela is active on Cameo, where fans can hand over $75 in exchange for a personalized video message. Angela has sent a few hundred fans personalized messages And by the glowing reviews from customers, it seems she's well worth the money. According to Newsweek, the American cast members on 90 Day Fiancé only get paid $1,000 per episode, so you can't blame Angela for making a little cash on the side.
Angela has gotten into trouble with the law
Angela has been charged with a DUI (via People). After she was pulled over for driving 60 mph on a road where the speed limit was 35 mph, Angela lit a cigarette and told the police officer she'd had a drink two hours before. She then refused to take a breathalyzer test and was charged for driving under the influence, speeding, and driving without a license.
However, Angela has also given back to her community. At the start of the coronavirus pandemic, she sewed masks which she brought over to her local McDonald's (via Screenrant). After all, essential workers rock, especially when they're serving up fries. At the end of the day, Angela doesn't let criticism from fans bother her. "I'm inviting them to see our journey, I'm not inviting you to tell me how I live my journey," she told ET. "At the end of the day, Angela is going to do what she wants to do."
