The Real Reason Charlotte Pence Had To Rush Her Wedding To Henry Bond

In July of 2019 Charlotte Pence, the middle child of Vice President Mike Pence, excitedly announced to the world that she and her boyfriend Henry Bond had gotten engaged. Charlotte's Instagram post on July 20, 2019 showed a photo of the two and was captioned, "I said 'yes,' and then I said 'thanks' a lot because I didn't know what else to say. I love you. Let's do this."

Later, on an appearance on Fox Nation's After the Show Show, Pence revealed she and Bond would be getting married rather quickly — "around the holidays" — but her enthusiasm seemed to waver a bit on sharing more when the hosts began pressing for details about the upcoming wedding (via Fox News). The reason for the short six-month engagement, it turned out, had to do with her fiancé's schedule. Henry Bond is in the Navy and the couple's rush to the altar was an effort to tie the knot before he was set to deploy.

Charlotte Pence and Henry Bond were married six months after their engagement

Three days after Christmas in 2019, Charlotte Pence and Henry Bond, who were 26 and 27 at the time, were married at his alma mater, the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland. According to USA Today, the couple met through Charlotte's brother Michael, who was a flight school classmate of Bond's. In an interview with USA Today before the wedding, Charlotte slotted her sister Audrey as her maid of honor and her brother's wife, Sarah, as one of her nine bridesmaids who were all reported to be dressed in burgundy. Bond was set to have 12 groomsmen. The procession would enter the chapel to the contemporary Christian song King of my Heart, which Pence said carries the message of Jesus being the center of a person's life.

Approximately 200 guests were expected in attendance; People reported Donald Trump's daughter and senior aide Ivanka, and her husband Jared Kushner were present. Pence wore an off-the-shoulder gown with a daisy pin from her grandmother tucked in her veil. She shared a photo from the big day on Instagram showing her and Bond leaving the chapel, under the traditional military arch of swords, with the caption, "Forever your hand in mine." This likely won't be the last wedding for the Pence family. According to The Washington Post, 25-year-old Audrey Pence is currently engaged to her 23-year-old college boyfriend Daniel Tomanelli.
