You Should Only Shop At Trader Joe's On Tuesday And Wednesday. Here's Why
Trader Joe's is one of the most popular places around to get groceries and other household items, primarily because their prices are so reasonable. However, because the stores tend to constantly be packed with other bargain hunters, it can be confusing and stressful trying to figure out when is the best time to actually brave your local store. Trader Joe's, similar to Costco, retains its reputation for famously low prices by selling its own signature brand but that can also lead to stampedes in the aisles as everybody tries to grab the best deals — particularly if they've been smart enough to consult the store's The Fearless Flyer shopping guide in advance.
It might seem daunting, but if your local Trader Joe's feels like it's always heaving with bodies, try not to despair. There are at least a couple times a week when you can safely assume that it won't be a struggle to get in the doors and even less hassle getting back out again with all your groceries in tow.
Trader Joe's will have fewer people on those days
It might sound crazy, but the answer to all our Trader Joe's shopping worries came via the infamous Reddit "Ask Me Anything," or AMA session, when a store manager spilled the tea about when the optimum times to visit are. For those not in the know, the Reddit AMA is well-known for taking the likes of Creed singer Scott Stapp and right-winger Ann Coulter to task for their perceived insolence (though President Obama proclaimed his experience with it was "not bad!"). Users of the site tend to go for the jugular but sometimes, when the right people are involved, certain interesting nuggets of information can be gleaned in the process (like learning Obama's favorite basketball player is Michael Jordan, for example).
Such was the case when the mysterious Trader Joe's store manager took the wheel, revealing on Reddit that the best time to shop at the store is actually on Tuesdays or Wednesdays. The manager wrote, "I think it's hilarious people go on Sunday and complain that we are so busy."
Ideally, you'll want to hit the place up early, too, as right when they open is the optimum time if you're looking to nab some fresh produce. The manager advised that many items actually sell out by around 2 to 4 p.m. each day, whether they're perishable or non-perishable, so the earlier you go, the more likely it is that you'll get everything you need quickly and easily. Heading down to Trader Joe's first thing in the morning midweek might not suit everybody but for those who can manage it, the spoils will be theirs for the taking.
