The Truth About Dr. Pimple Popper's Skincare Line

You may not know Dr. Sandra Lee, but chances are, you've heard of her alter ego, Dr. Pimple Popper, who swept through YouTube the way a cinematic superhero might clean up a city. Since she made her debut on social media, Dr. Lee has picked up a stable following that has translated into about 6.5 million subscribers, a reality TV show on TLC ... and a skincare line named SLMD.

It took Dr. Lee a while to work out what products she wanted to provide with SLMD, especially since the skin-care market is flooded with options. In 2016, she told Forbes, "Every dermatologist already has his or her own skin care line. For me, it's like, 'What I can do?' I have a legion of a million people behind me who watch every video I post ... I'd want to start with something that treats acne to start, which makes sense because I'm Dr. Pimple Popper. I don't want to do fluff like most people do. I'm a doctor and want it to have medical ingredients that are actually going to work."

She appears to have made that wish come true, because Dr. Pimple Popper's skincare line features a range of products with ingredients you might know if you ever spent an extended amount of time at the skincare section of your favorite beauty store. Salicylic acid, glycolic acid, benzoyl peroxide, retinol, hyaluronic acid, and hydroquinone are listed as active ingredients for the SLMD line of products. The site also features suggestions for total-protection skincare which support different types of skin concerns from aging to acne to oily skin (via SLMD Skincare).

Dr. Lee keeps her own daily skincare routine lean and mean by sticking to just a few products, she told Insider. She's partial to her line's salicylic acid cleanser, which can both clean and gently exfoliate and is good for dry skin. She also uses her own-brand serum with hyaluronic acid to fight dryness. Another personal favorite? "I love my cleansing wipes. My fave before that was the Neutrogena wipes, which are pretty popular, but I feel like my wipes get makeup off better and they don't dry up." Dr. Lee said to Cosmopolitan

Her products may not be the most inexpensive, but judging by the rates you need to pay to see her, SLMD's products could end up being a bargain.
