Adele's Latest Instagram Post Has Everyone Talking

Adele isn't a big Instagrammer — instead of documenting every single second of her life under lockdown, she actually hadn't posted much of anything since Christmas. Although her holiday glamour shot, a black-and-white number where she's posed with the Grinch, shows her looking svelte, it's her latest Instagram pic that she posted for her 32nd birthday that has fans in a true tizzy.

She posed inside a giant flower-bedecked frame (a real one, not an Instagram filter), and included a message of support for fans and first responders alike: "Thank you for the birthday love. I hope you're all staying safe and sane during this crazy time. I'd like to thank all of our first responders and essential workers who are keeping us safe while risking their lives! You are truly our angels," which is very sweet, and nice, and really nothing all that out of the ordinary, as far as celeb birthday Instagram messages go. So what is everyone freaking out over? Well, her short skirted, body-hugging black dress showed off the fact that Adele is looking a bit different than she used to, back in her breakout stardom days of over a decade ago.

Adele's weight loss journey

A young fan who met up with Adele on vacation in Anguilla last January told People that she barely recognized the slimmed-down star, but that the singer revealed she's lost around 100 pounds. A deeper dive into Adele's weight loss history by Celebs Now, however, showed that these 100 pounds came off gradually over the course of several years of healthy eating and gym workouts. Always body-positive no matter her size, Adele declared that she was working out "to get in shape for myself, but not to be a size zero or anything like that."

While her new pic has received almost 6 million(!) likes to date, and thousands of comments including celeb OMGs from Chrissy Teigen ("I mean are you kidding me") and Spanish singer Leroy Sanchez ("And the internet breaks in 3... 2... 1..."), The Sun had previously reported that not all of her fans are so pleased with the newer, slimmer Adele since they loved her the way she was in her plus-sized days.

At the end of the day, though, the most important thing is that Adele herself is pleased with who she sees in the mirror. When people said she was too big, she didn't care, and now that some are saying she's too skinny, she shouldn't be concerned by this, either. As long as she is healthy and happy in her own skin, she can be whatever size she likes and still be beautiful.
