Former Pop Stars Who Live Insanely Lavish Lives

Pop stars are known for living insanely lavish lives. From Taylor Swift's many mansions to vacations only Adele can splurge on, celebs are clearly living the high life. But what happens when a pop star steps out of the limelight? Is their lifestyle still just as fabulous after their music career has slowed?

Many former pop sensations burn through their fortunes and end up turning to regular jobs and a more conventional lifestyle. Meanwhile, many other former singers thrive in a space just outside the spotlight. These artists find a niche to display their talents, sometimes judging reality show competitions, moving on to another musical genre, or creating a fashion brand, and they spend their time basking in the fame and riches from their heyday and from their new professional ventures.

Here's a list of some of the best pop stars of yesterday and their surprisingly lavish lives, even after their hits have slowed.

Former pop star Lance Bass enjoys a stunning home life

The post-pop life has been good to *NSYNC member Lance Bass. He and his husband live in a stylish home in Los Angeles, decorated with stunning pieces like a table made with a 500-pound boat propeller and a crystal vase the couple received as a wedding present from Kris Jenner, as noted by Elle Decor. Before moving to this home, Bass lived in a sophisticated New York bachelor pad, which he sold for a cool $2.25 million, according to Curbed. That lavish apartment only had one bedroom, but it featured 11 closets — yes, 11. That's not surprising though, as style is important to Bass.

As the former pop star told InStyle, he was once afraid to wear more colorful clothes: "There was this layer of, 'Are people gonna think I think I'm gay if I care too much?'" But now, he feels free to express his more playful side, showing off his personality in a broad collection of chic, colorful suits. Some memorable outfits include the pink Mr. Turk suit he wore to the VMAs, the show-stopping yellow plaid number he wore to a premiere, and the black, white, and blue floral suit he wore to an event in Dallas. Considering that a single blazer from Mr. Turk can cost over $500, Bass is clearly not afraid to spend some green to look his best!

Brian Littrell is one former pop star with a thing for cars

Brian Littrell made a name for himself as one of the Backstreet Boys, singing songs like "I Want It That Way" and "As Long As You Love Me," but, these days, he's living the quiet life of luxury in his Georgia mansion. Littrell's home is a 15,000-square-foot French château-style home on 39 acres of property, complete with five bedrooms, seven bathrooms, a tennis court, a lake, and a recording studio, as TMZ reported.

When asked about money in an interview with the Daily Mail, Littrell said, "It doesn't buy happiness." But it seems that his luxurious lifestyle doesn't exactly hurt. Besides owning a beautiful mansion, Littrell seems to value fun and flashy cars. He explained that his "most extravagant purchase" was a white Maserati GranTurismo Sport. As for the best present he ever received? That was a Honda all-terrain vehicle, which he got from his wife.

Littrell has shown off his fabulous lifestyle on his Instagram page, bragging about travels like trips to Costa Rica, Argentina, and Hawaii. It seems if the pop star wants it "that way," he gets it.

Nicole Scherzinger is one pop star who knows how to treat herself

With The Pussycat Dolls' announcement that they'd reunite for a 2020 tour, Nicole Scherzinger may not have completely left the pop scene, but, even if the group never got back together, Scherzinger would be doing just fine. These days, Scherzinger is still in the spotlight, working as a judge on shows like The Masked Singer and Australia's Got Talent. Still, Scherzinger works hard and plays hard, and she's known to treat herself to incredible trips, taking in the scenery in Italy and walking on the beach in Hawaii.

But her lavish lifestyle doesn't end with stunning vacations. In 2019, Scherzinger showed off her stunning Los Angeles mansion to Architectural Digest, giving fans a taste of her breathtaking views of the city, her home theater with long, pink sofa beds, and four floors featuring luxurious finishes. And while the whole house is stunning, Scherzinger's bathroom is extra opulent. In one video for Allure, the pop star showed off the space and the $3,000 worth of luxurious products in it, including a $1,400 cream made from her own blood, as noted by Daily Mail.

Pop star Ricky Martin is enjoying his fortune with his family

Ricky Martin may be best known for his hit "Livin' La Vida Loca," but these days he's focused on being a family man... a family man who leads a seriously lavish life.

Martin and his husband, Jwan Josef, bought a glamorous seven-bedroom, 8.5-bathroom Beverly Hills home for $13.5 million in 2016, as Realtor.com reported. The house includes an art studio for Josef, a home theater, and what Martin calls a "dream closet." There's also plenty of room for their four children – twins Valentino and Matteo, daughter Lucía, and youngest Renn.

And while anyone would want to spend time in the fabulous home, this famous family is often touring the world — not just for the pop star's performances, but also for luxurious vacations. In January 2020, Martin posted photos of himself on Instagram, showing him basking in the sun in the British Virgin Islands. Earlier in 2019, Martin and Josef left the kids at home for a fun-filled trip to Puerto Rico, as Hola! reported. Not a bad way to spend your time!

Singer Sarah McLachlan lives a quiet, but very comfortable lifestyle

Pop/contemporary singer Sarah McLachlan had tons of hits in the '90s and early 2000s like "Angel" and "I Will Remember You," but, these days, McLachlan is playing to more intimate gatherings than the huge stadiums she used to play to. Still, this gives her time to enjoy a more luxurious and relaxing life. This Grammy winner loves spending her time on the beach during her down time. She's gone surfing in Mexico and celebrated spring break in Hawaii, as noted by E! News.

But it seems McLachlan isn't doing too shabby back home in Canada, either. For a time, she lived in her Whistler, Canada mansion, which sits on 4.3 acres of land and features a gym, a home theater, and even a wine room, as reported by the Los Angeles Times. While McLachlan may not be able to enjoy her Whistler mansion anymore (she put it on the market for $10.1 million USD back in 2015), she's been enjoying life in Vancouver, posting photos of herself on Instagram skiing and showing off gorgeous waterside views.

Former pop star Joey Fatone has enjoyed life in an extravagant mansion

Joey Fatone was a memorable part of *NSYNC, but it's been decades since songs like "Tearin' Up My Heart" topped the charts. These days, Fatone is living a different — but still incredible — life.

For years, he resided in a luxurious 12,370-square-foot, five-bedroom, nine-bathroom Florida mansion that sits on 4.36 acres. As Forbes reported, this luxurious estate boasted a million-dollar grotto pool with rock formations and a sushi bar. The mansion also featured a lighted tennis court, a dual-sided fireplace, a home theater, and a master bathroom with a steam room and sauna. It even came with an elevator! While this place may seem like a former pop star's dream, Fatone said "bye bye bye" to the mansion when he sold the place for $3.3 million in 2011, as reported by Orlando Weekly

While Fatone is no longer living the high life at this particular Florida paradise, he's still living large. He's making headlines with his hot dog business, Fat One's, and he's been seen hitting the pool with fellow *NSYNC singer Lance Bass, hanging out with pop star Ariana Grande, and enjoying time with his brunette beauty girlfriend. Not a bad life!

Pop star Hilary Duff made it big with her acting career

Hilary Duff is no longer singing bops like "So Yesterday" and "Wake Up," but she's still in the spotlight. In fact, her career may be busier than ever after starring in Younger. And with such an impressive career in show business, Duff is certainly enjoying the lavish lifestyle of a superstar.

Back in 2010, Duff treated herself to a $3.85 million mansion in Beverly Hills, as reported by Business Insider. And boy is her home elegant, compete with a feminine design and high-end features like a modern chandelier, according to Better Homes & Gardens.

Nick Carter is one former pop star who settled down to enjoy his fortune

For a while, Backstreet Boys singer Nick Carter lived in a stunning five-bedroom, 6.5-bathroom home in the posh community of Hidden Hills, Calif. But apparently Carter moved on to something bigger and better because, as the Los Angeles Times reported, Carter sold his glamorous home for a sweet $4 million in 2017.

But it's not just a fancy home that makes Carter's life so lavish. In one interview with Haute Living, he gave fans a peak into his pricy life, naming some of Los Angeles' trendiest, most expensive spots as some of his favorite hangouts. When asked about a date night place, he chose a pricy beachside Malibu restaurant, saying, "Restaurants on the beach are always the best." When asked for a hotel recommendation, he picked the ultra-luxe Four Seasons in Beverly Hills. And his award for favorite spa went to the equally chic Montage Beverly Hills.

But he's not just living the high life in LA, as he's shown off his fabulous travels on social media, posting pictures of trips to Hawaii and his time spent with family in Italy. It must be nice to be Nick Carter!

The iconic Lionel Richie isn't only known for songs like "Sail On" or "Dancing on the Ceiling," as his music career stretches across multiple genres. This Grammy and Academy Award winner boasts a luxurious life in a 17,000-square-foot, 28-room estate. "What I'm trying to do here is show travel," Richie told Architectural Digest in 2017, "and finally I've found a place where I can apply everything I see in other countries." Richie accomplishes this goal with refined and exotic touches brought into the home through an 18th century tapestry hanging above a custom amboyna piano and two Italian chairs below an overwhelming display of awards (via Architectural Digest).

But the best part has to be Richie's incredible closet, which Coveteur reports is stuffed with embroidered jackets and pants, Adidas tracksuits, flashy accessories, and pricy designer luggage. Richie is living an over-the-top life, and he looks good doing it.
