How Clare Crawley's Ex-Fiance Feels About Her Being The New Bachelorette
While many fans thought that Madison Prewett — who gave Bachelor Peter Weber a now-infamous ultimatum — would be the next Bachelorette, the showrunners decided to go with Clare Crawley, who was the runner-up on season 18 of The Bachelor in 2014.
The 38-year-old hair stylist also appeared on the first two seasons of Bachelor in Paradise, as well as 2018's The Bachelor Winter Games. While she got engaged to Benoit Beausejour-Savard in that show's finale, they broke up just a few months later.
It seems that Benoit and Clare parted on amicable terms, judging by his reaction to the news that Clare is the newest Bachelorette.
Clare's ex-fiance is happy that she's the new Bachelorette
Clare's one-time beau seems to be genuinely happy that Clare has another shot at finding her true love and has expressed his support for his former flame.
"Congratulations to this gem!!" wrote Benoit in the caption of an Instagram post of himself and Clare. "She will be an amazing Bachelorette. She is smart, fun, strong, knows what she wants and most importantly, she will call out the guys messing around!!" Benoit went on to wish Clare the best of luck, writing "You will be the best."
Clare believes that being 38 is an advantage that will serve her well on The Bachelorette. "A lot of people put it out there as this negative thing, but for me, it just is more years under my belt, more learning and knowing what I want, what I don't want and what I won't settle for," she said on Good Morning America.
Even though Clare has had her heart broken more than once, she is remaining optimistic that The Bachelorette will bring her the man of her dreams. What is she looking for in the man who will receive her final rose? "The most important thing is I want a man that will take off his armor," she said. "I want a man who is strong, but is willing to take off the body armor, open himself up and be vulnerable, and I think that is some serious strength right there."
