Is Flip Or Flop's Tarek El Moussa A Licensed Realtor?

It's hard to remember a time when Tarek El Moussa and his ex-wife Christina Anstead weren't flipping homes on our TVs. Believe it or not, Flip or Flop has only been on the air since 2013, yet the personal ups and downs and career highs and lows audiences have witnessed El Moussa and Anstead experience seem like enough for a lifetime. The show gives the audience an inside look at the former couples' personal drama, but is their real estate expertise just for show?

El Moussa's experience flipping homes goes back even further than the hit HGTV show. According to his website, El Moussa has been in the business for over 15 years and received his real estate license at just 21 years old.

According to The Orange County Register, Flip or Flop's success was the result of a demo tape El Moussa sent on a whim. Ultimately, that tape changed his and Anstead's life as they went from sharing an apartment with a roommate to making $10,000 per episode for that first season.

Tarek El Moussa's success goes beyond Flip or Flop

While El Moussa and Anstead are no longer married, Flip or Flop carries on, showcasing El Moussa's real estate expertise and Anstead's design smarts. The former couple told Today that throwing everything away after their divorce "just wasn't worth it" and that "it's just easier to work together and get along."

The two have managed to turn their wildly successful show into spin-offs centered on their now-individual careers, with El Moussa starring in Flipping 101 w/ Tarek El Moussa and Anstead starring in Christina on the Coast. For his part, El Moussa took complete ownership of the real estate business he previously shared with his ex-wife, telling Realtor.com, "it's a complete rebrand of the existing business."

Fans of El Moussa can get an in-depth look at the "self-made celebrity real estate investor's" life through his Instagram, where he frequently shares his experiences, techniques, and advice for success. In one post, El Moussa put his approach succinctly: "You must show up at 100% everyday and do the same thing over and over again."
