Kelly Rowland Says What Meghan Markle Is Really Like After Beyoncé Concert Hangout

Queen Bey wasn't the only regal woman at her September 4, 2023, birthday show at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles — and no, we're not just talking about her fellow "Destiny's Child" alum Kelly Rowland, who was there to support her long-time friend and colleague. Rowland, who was rocking a jeweled makeup look per Beyoncé's metallic silver theme, watched the show alongside "Scandal" actor Kerry Washington and Meghan Markle, Duchess of Sussex.

Rowland spoke to Hello! Magazine about what it was like spending time with the two A-listers at the show, explaining that she had never met Markle before the Renaissance World Tour concert. "It was just nice being there with other great women and being able to just simply talk," the singer told the magazine of the night out.

The "Motivation" singer complimented the wife of Harry, Duke of Sussex, for her humble and kind attitude. "I don't know what people expect to see or to know, but she just felt very cool and very down to earth. She is very warm."

The powerful women spent the night enjoying each other's company

Kelly Rowland, Kerry Washington, and Meghan Markle, Duchess of Sussex, spent the night celebrating their mutual love of Beyoncé, but their similarities don't stop there. All three women are married mothers of two and successful Black women in the entertainment industry, which means they're also uniquely connected by their shared experiences of being a double minority in the at-times harsh and unforgiving performance worlds.

Based on Rowland's recounting of the night, it sounds like the trio were able to empower and uplift each other during Beyoncé's show. "[Meghan] was royal before she was in that family," the pop star told Hello! Magazine. "I think that we are royalty before anything. And we have to hold ourselves in that regard as humans, as people."

Rowland's attendance at her former bandmate's birthday show is indicative of her strong relationship with Beyoncé today, which undoubtedly made spending the night with other powerful women like Washington and Markle all the more special. In an interview with Marie Claire Australia in 2019, Rowland described Beyoncé as " a real friend: genuine, loyal, and trustworthy. She's also one of the sweetest people you ever did meet." Indeed, the friendship and camaraderie shared between these powerful women is another testament to Beyoncé's own words: who runs the world? Girls.
