Prince Philip's Resemblance To His Adorable Great-Granddaughter Isla Is Unmistakable
We all know a thing or two about the late Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip's great-grandchildren. William and Catherine, the Prince and Princess of Wales' three children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis are always at major royal family events looking adorable and often absolutely stealing the show. As for Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's children, Archie and Lilibet, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are careful to protect their little ones from the scrutiny of the public eye, but we know enough to know that they've both inherited their dad's red locks, and Lilibet inherited her first name from her grandmother's beloved nickname.
Yet, while we know much more about King Charles III's grandchildren than that of his siblings, this doesn't mean that he's the only one to have grandchildren of his own. Those of us who watched Princess Charlotte prove she's a Katy Perry fan with her adorable Coronation concert sing-along know that the musical event that followed King Charles and Queen Camilla's big day was a royal family reunion of sorts. Charles' grand niece was in attendance, and photos of her in the audience at the concert have sparked fan commentary about a surprising family resemblance.
Prince Philip and Isla share a royal family resemblance
11-year-old Isla Phillips made waves with her attendance at King Charles' coronation concert. She was in the audience at the concert because the newly crowned king just so happens to be her great-uncle. Isla is the daughter of Peter Phillips, whose mother is Princess Anne. Princess Anne is, of course, Charles' sister.
We certainly don't see as much of Isla as we do the Prince and Princess of Wales' children, but Isla often attends big family events like Queen Elizabeth II's Platinum Jubilee celebrations. Princess Anne's granddaughter made quite a splash when photos of her at her great-uncle's coronation concert surfaced, and many fans took note of how much she resembles her late great-grandfather, Prince Philip. While Isla may not realize just how much she looks like her great-grandfather, she shared an unusual and somber bond with him when his memorial service took place on her tenth birthday in 2022. While most folks who commented on Isla's appearance took note of her physical similarities to Philip, others believe that she looks like her grandmother, Princess Anne.
The royal family is bigger than we realize
Peter Phillips and his ex-wife, Autumn, also have another daughter named Savannah, who is just a year older than her sister, Isla. Isla and Savannah have a close relationship with their cousins, Mia, Lena, and Lucas Tindall. Mia, Lena, and Lucas are the children of Princess Anne's daughter, Zara Tindall, and her husband, Mike Tindall. The children stick together during big family events, and Zara is also close with her nieces and shares her love of horseback riding with them.
In addition to Princess Anne and King Charles III, Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip had two other children who both have children and grandchildren of their own. Prince Andrew has two daughters, Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie, with ex-wife, Sarah Ferguson. Elizabeth and Philip's youngest son, Prince Edward, and his wife, Sophie Rhys-Jones, had two children of their own, Lady Louise and James, Viscount Severn.
While there's more than enough family drama to go around within the royal family as of late, it's interesting to remember that the members of the family who the public stays up-to-date with are only a small fraction of this big, famous brood. Seeing just how much Isla looks like her great-grandfather is an important reminder of the breadth and strength of the connections between the wider royal family.
