Get To Know Chandler Massey: From Days Of Our Lives To Hallmark
Over the past decade, Chandler Massey has become a favorite among TV fans. The actor became one of the many actors to play Will Horton on the soap opera "Days of Our Lives" in 2010, just a year after he appeared in smaller roles on shows like "One Tree Hill," "Eastbound & Down," and "Army Wives."
Massey was originally hired to play the teenage version of Will, a legacy character born to Salemites Sami Brady (Alison Sweeney) and Lucas Horton (Bryan Dattilo). During Massey's early days on the soap, he took on some heavy storylines, including a plot involving an unplanned pregnancy and a noteworthy arc in which his character came out as gay.
In 2014, Massey made history when Will tied the knot with Sonny Kiriakis (Freddie Smith) in daytime TV's first same-sex male wedding. Massey has also received a lot of praise for his performance. He won Daytime Emmys for his portrayal of Will Horton in 2012, 2013, and 2014. He was nominated for two more in 2018 and 2020. Massey is no longer a regular on the sudser, but he does return from time to time to reprise the character of Will and check in with his Salem family.
Massey joined the Hallmark family in 2021
In 2021, Chandler Massey delighted fans when he joined the Hallmark roster with the festive holiday film "Next Stop, Christmas." The movie was highly anticipated, as it also boasts a "Back to the Future" reunion between actors Christopher Lloyd and Lea Thompson — not to mention a time-travel angle. The following year, Massey made another holiday movie for the network, "A Tale of Two Christmases."
In 2023, Massey returned to Hallmark with "The Professional Bridesmaid," which co-stars fan-favorite Hunter King. In the movie, Massey plays Henry, a reporter who's covering a big wedding. Of course, Henry and King's character, Maggie Bailey, interact plenty as the story unfolds. "Henry is a character that takes himself very seriously so I got to play into the comedy of somebody who takes themselves maybe a little too seriously," Massey told Digital Journal. "This movie was fun," he added. "It was a great time. ... Working with Hunter King was amazing, I love working with her."
Meanwhile, as Massey continues cultivating his acting career, big things are also happening in his personal life.
Massey's personal life is also thriving
Chandler Massey isn't just known for playing romantic characters on TV. He has a great love story in real life, too. The Georgia native met Stephanie Bennett in the parking lot of a grocery store, and things took off from there. Eventually, Massey popped the question, and Bennett accepted.
Not to be outdone, Bennett turned the tables during the couple's engagement photoshoot with her own surprise proposal — she even gave Massey an engagement ring of his own. "She proposed tonight! If you see a ring on his finger, that's why! He proposed to her previously and she wanted to surprise him!" photographer Kim Hayes wrote in a now-deleted Instagram story, per Heavy.
Massey and Bennett live together in Georgia, where Massey works as a data visualization specialist for a healthcare company when he's between acting jobs. "I think it's nice that I have a stable day job because [acting] opportunities ... kind of came out of nowhere. It's hard to predict what I'll be doing six months from now," he told Soap Opera Network.
