The Denim Trend For Spring 2023 Puts A Fresh Spin On Footwear

We're officially in spring, and that means it's time to switch up your shoe game. So far ballet pumps, Mary Janes, open-toe styles, and wedges are some of the major trending shoes in 2023, and another shoe you need to have in your rotation for spring 2023 is a pair of denim boots.

Otherwise known as "jeans boots," denim boots are set to be everywhere. The perfect style to take you through spring and into summer as the weather heats up, they put a fun and fresh perspective on regular boots due to the novelty of being denim. Denim boots can be worn with jeans, shorts, skirts, and pretty much everything else, making them a versatile investment for your wardrobe if you find it lacking in the shoe department.

Here are some tips for styling the denim boot trend and some of our favorite styles available now so you can step out looking more fly than ever this spring.

Denim is actually a more versatile fabric that you may have thought

Denim boots can be short or long, but most styles feature a taller, cowboy-esque silhouette that's perfect for creating "Daisy Jones & The Six" 70-inspired retro looks. However, you don't have to go completely retro to make the denim boot trend work. Thigh-high boots paired with a miniskirt will always look good and make an outfit feel instantly more put-together, even if you just wear a t-shirt on your top half as Rihanna did with her Y/Project denim boot look.

If you're feeling daring, an all-denim outfit will give major Diesel vibes. The fashion house was all about Y2K denim in its pre-fall 2023 collections, and what better way to embrace the trend than with a complete denim look? Break up your look with different silhouettes; for example, pairing a denim crop top with low-rise jeans. Even just showing off a teeny bit of midriff or opting for a short-sleeved top can make a big difference. But, if crop tops aren't for you, embrace the oversized clothing trend with baggy jeans and a denim bomber.

Denim boots can be dressy or casual

If an all-denim outfit isn't your thing, don't stress. Denim boots can be made casual with a slouchy cardigan or sweater, or dressed up with a leather jacket and skirt.  Additionally, denim boots are a good wardrobe go-to for transitioning into the spring weather, as you can go short, medium, or tall depending on the climate where you live.

Not a fan of showing too much leg? Denim maxi skirts are a great alternative and will give you a cool double-denim look without the outfit appearing visually overwhelming. If you are going for taller boots and a long dress or skirt, opt for a sweater with a cropped silhouette to ensure your top half doesn't look disproportional to your bottom half.

A few of our favorite picks for denim boots include this pair of studded Western-style knee-high denim boots from Azalea Wang, these stunning platform denim boots from Rag & Bone that are ideal for retro looks, and this super-cool pair of Lamoda patchwork denim boots that are a '90s dream and will go with basically your whole wardrobe.
