The Two Actors Who Have Been On The Bold And The Beautiful The Longest
"The Bold and the Beautiful" has been with us for almost 36 years, and two characters have been ever-present during the show's run. Brooke Logan has been played almost uninterrupted by Katherine Kelly Lang ("Venice the Series"), whereas Eric Forrester has solely been played by John McCook ("Magnum, P.I").
Brooke Logan is an executive at the fashion house Forrester Creations. She has had a remarkable seven spouses over the course of the show, including renewing her vows 11 times with Ridge Forrester. She has also had five children with four of her spouses. Eric Forrester has had five spouses over the course of the show and eight children, including legal guardianship and adopted children.
In recognition of her work, Katherine Kelly Lang has received two Daytime Emmy Acting nominations for her performances as Brooke Logan. John McCook has been nominated for the Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series numerous times, including securing a win in 2022. These characters have had many highlights throughout the series, and the actors have often reflected on committing to them for so long.
Katherine Kelly Lang as Brooke Logan
Played by Katherine Kelly Lang, Brooke Logan's character is infamous for her morally questionable choices. One outrageous example is her affair with Deacon Sharpe (Sean Kanan), her daughter Bridget Forrester's (Jennifer Finnigan) husband, which resulted in her giving birth to Hope Logan. Another dramatic moment involved shooting Stephanie Forrester (Susan Flannery) with a handgun that Stephanie had initially supplied Brooke with in order to use on herself. In another tempestuous encounter with Stephanie, Brooke temporarily strangled her with a feather boa. These are just the tip of the iceberg of the misdeeds that Brooke has committed during her highly eventful life on "The Bold and the Beautiful."
Last year, Lang reflected on 35 years of acting in "The Bold and the Beautiful" in an Instagram post, particularly paying tribute to her original co-star John McCook. Brooke posted, "Thank you @johntmccook for being such a good friend and actor since day 1. I still give you so much credit that day that I was hired. If I didn't do the screen test with you, I may not have been there at all."
John McCook as Eric Forrester
Although Eric Forrester's time on the show isn't quite as extraordinary as Brooke's, it isn't without controversy. One shocking revelation was when Eric concealed the true ownership of Forrester Creations from Stephanie Forrester. Another storyline involved Eric having an affair with Brooke while he was undergoing divorce proceedings from Stephanie, despite the fact that Brooke had previously been engaged to Eric's son, Ridge Forrester. As a result of this affair, Brooke would have two children — Eric Forrester Jr. and then Bridget Forrester — even though she was convinced Ridge was their father.
John McCook recently discussed playing Eric Forrester for 35 years when he spoke to Soap Opera Digest. He remarked, "I like that he's a sensitive man, that he is sensitive to the needs of those around him — and not just the women in his life but the men in his life, as well. He is sensitive to other people's feelings and needs."
