Viewers may remember following David and Annie Suwan Toborowsky's journey back in 2017 on Season 5 of the series. At the time, the duo was preparing to wed and obtain Annie's K-1 visa to start a life together in the United States. Initially, fans questioned whether David and Annie's relationship would work given their significant age gap of 24 years and quick engagement, but they have managed to prove the doubters wrong after celebrating their five-year anniversary in 2022.

As shown on "90 Day Fiancé," David faced numerous obstacles in his life, including a difficult divorce, financial struggles, and health scares. Since then, David has really turned his life around, and his wife has been there every step of the way. Although David has made several positive changes in his life, the biggest change has arguably been in his lifestyle habits.

Walking attributed to David's initial weight loss

Throughout the years, David Toborowsky has been candid about his struggles with weight. The "90 Day Fiancé" star admitted to Us Weekly that living in Thailand helped him lose weight as he spent much more time walking. "I lost a lot of weight when I went to Thailand the first time in 2013 and I said, 'I can do it again.' Walking is critical," he explained. According to Mayo Clinic, just 30 minutes of walking per day is enough to burn over 150 calories. Developing a habitual exercise routine, such as daily walks, is a great way to encourage long-term weight loss.

Unfortunately, David, upon moving back to the United States in 2020, began to regain weight. He was also faced with the unexpected losses of his father, aunt, and uncle (via Screenrant). However, in the years that followed, David began switching up his lifestyle habits, which hasn't gone unnoticed by his fans. Ahead of the premiere of Season 2 of "David & Annie: After the 90 Days," fans took to David's Instagram to address his transformation. "David, so proud of you. You look amazing," one commenter wrote. Another added, "I've followed you two from the beginning. Annie Suwan Toborowsky never wavered. David you've battled your weight and look at you now."

David is motivated to improve his health for his wife

One of the biggest reasons the TLC star has developed a healthier lifestyle is to keep up with his younger wife, Annie Suwan Toborowsky. "I do wanna be healthier and I want [to] be around a lot longer for Annie," he shared with Us Weekly. With the age gap in mind, David Toborowsky joked that he'd be happy if he could live far past his 100th birthday. "So, if I can live to be [120], she could die at 96, [we'll] go the same time," he said.

According to Psychology Today, motivation can greatly impact consistency and long-term results for a goal. Extrinsic motivation, like setting a goal with a significant other in mind, can be useful in starting a weight loss journey; however, intrinsic motivation is vital to maintain long-term results. Still, having a workout buddy is incredibly helpful, according to the CDC. Thankfully, David and Annie have that in each other. As David told Us Weekly, "I normally get up, [and] I walk through the park ... once and then [Annie will] get up and then we'll walk in the afternoon together."

David had gastric bypass surgery in the past

David Toborowsky has always been quite open about his health, but it may come as a surprise that he's fought an ongoing battle with his weight for decades. Like "90 Day Fiancé" stars Angela Deem and Tiffany Franco, David underwent gastric bypass surgery (via Screenrant). He had the surgery back in 1999, but in more recent years, David has relied on a low-carb diet paired with exercise for weight loss. He also kept a realistic mindset with attainable goals. "I didn't gain it quickly and I'm not gonna lose it quickly," he acknowledged in an interview with Us Weekly.

Although gastric bypass surgery does encourage weight loss, some may think the surgery is all that's required to lose weight. However, healthy lifestyle changes such as diet and exercise must be maintained to ensure continued weight loss; otherwise, you will be susceptible to regaining the weight, according to the Mayo Clinic.

He's dropped 10 pants sizes

As David Toborowsky told Us Weekly, the weight he's lost is pretty remarkable. In addition to losing 70 pounds, he's down 10 pant sizes.

David and Annie Suwan Toborowsky demonstrated just how much David had lost in one of Annie's hilarious Instagram videos. In the video captured by Annie, she is seen handing David a pair of her pants just to see if he could fit into them. Within a few moments, David comes out with her pants on, hilariously showing off all the moves and poses he can do in them. Although Annie couldn't stop laughing behind the camera, she also couldn't help but share her support. "Wow, those are my pants," she said. "I'm so proud of you!" Annie also wrote in the post, "Wowwww David can fit in my pants!!!!???? That is a good sign for him but what about me?? LOL."

Even his wife's family took notice of his weight loss

In an episode of "David & Annie: After the 90 Days," the happy couple took David Toborowsky's family on a trip to visit Annie Suwan Toborowsky's family in Thailand. Soon after they all arrived, Annie's mother commented on David's weight, saying, "How come you're so skinny? What did you do? Did you stop eating?" Annie's mother then proceeded to rub David's stomach, and the entire family broke into laughter.

Believe it or not, when it comes to weight loss, others, like friends and family, are likely the ones to notice a difference before you do. It can take anywhere from six to eight weeks before you start to see results, according to My Fitness Pal. This is due to others seeing you less frequently than you're used to seeing yourself.

In the remainder of the episode, viewers got to see an inside look at both families coming together and meeting for the first time. Despite there being a language barrier, Annie was able to translate both English and Thai, so everyone was included and could get to know each other better.

Annie has enforced a 'no food before bed' rule

Maintaining a healthy lifestyle is no easy feat, but Annie Suwan Toborowsky has figured out her own solution to keep David Toborowsky on track when it comes to his diet. Every night before bed, Annie makes sure David falls asleep before her so he doesn't snack before bed. In an interview with Us Weekly, she joked that she will tell David to "close the refrigerator and go back to bed with an empty stomach!"

Although it may seem a bit unconventional, Annie's "rule" does have some basis. According to experts, eating before bed can affect your body's ability to lose weight by slowing down your metabolism and making digestion more difficult (via AmeriSleep). Eating at night can also make one more susceptible to grabbing easily accessible foods that are high in carbs and sugar, such as chips, cookies, candy, et cetera. Nutritionists recommend waiting at least three hours after a meal before going to bed to allow for proper digestion.

He's more mindful of what he eats but still indulges on occasion

David Toborowsky shared that he has become more conscious about calorie intake and opts for healthier alternatives but shared that he does still indulge on occasion. "I'm not perfect with it. If you go to a Mexican restaurant, you can't just eat a chip," he opined to Us Weekly. David went on to note that his diet mostly consists of wraps, salads, and drinking plenty of water.

David has also reportedly incorporated apple cider vinegar into his diet, according to Screenrant. This trick has seen a recent spike in popularity for its numerous health benefits in the past few years. As highlighted by Healthline, some studies have shown that drinking 1 to 2 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar may curb appetite by creating fullness which can influence weight loss. It's also been shown to have a positive effect on insulin and blood sugar.

David has encouraged Annie to develop healthier lifestyle habits too

David Toborowsky hasn't been the only one seeing a positive change in his lifestyle — his wife,  Annie Suwan Toborowsky, has been reaping the benefits too. In addition to increasing her exercise by going on regular walks with David, she has dropped six sizes herself (via Us Weekly). But walking isn't the only way Annie stays in shape. She loves to dance and frequently posts dancing videos on her Instagram, sometimes featuring David doing some goofy moves of his own to get a reaction out of Annie. Not only is dancing a great way for the duo to get their cardio in, but with David around, it doubles as a great form of entertainment, too — a win-win.

Back in 2021, Annie showed off her slimmer figure in a series of Instagram photos. She captioned the post, "I'm so happy because I'm finally back to the size I was!!" In January 2023, she shared a photo of herself in a lavender maxi dress alongside David, who was also looking slimmer, with the caption noting that they had made it back to the United States after visiting Thailand.
