Everything We Know About Amy Schumer's Secret Wedding So Far

Comedian Amy Schumer is officially off the market! On February 15th, 2018, Schumer shared photos from her ultra-secret wedding to chef Chris Fischer, captioning the photos with a simple, "Yup." Schumer and Fischer were first seen together in November and are seemingly head-over-heels in love with one another in the photos Schumer shared with fans. Here's what we know about the couple's gorgeous Malibu ceremony filled with family, friends, and lots of laughs.

The ceremony made Jennifer Lawrence cry

No wedding is complete without the bride's best friend, so of course J-Law was in attendance! Schumer and Lawrence are famously close and BFF #goals for women everywhere. Their friendship began in 2015 when Lawrence emailed Schumer after seeing the comedian's hit summer movie, Trainwreck. Lawrence tells The New York Times that she wrote, "I don't know where to get started. I guess I should just say it: I'm in love with you."

Since then, the pair has taken the world by storm: jet-skiing, laughing it up at awards shows, and even dancing on top of Billy Joel's piano. So of course Lawrence got emotional as she watched her best pal wed her beau in a secret Malibu ceremony. As she told Entertainment Tonight, "I was sobbing the whole [time]. When two people really love each other and they really mean it, it shows." Awwww. Talk about happy tears.

It was a star-studded event

Schumer is obviously a superstar and Fischer is a celebrity in his own right, so there's no question that the pair had a wedding filled with their famous friends. Though the ceremony was very private, Schumer took no time in sharing photos from both the ceremony and the after-party with her 6.5 million Instagram followers.

In the wedding photos (dispersed throughout many separate Instagram posts), fans got an inside look at all the wedding shenanigans and the famous faces who came out to celebrate their friends' happy day. In addition to Lawrence, famous guests included Vanessa Bayer, Aidy Bryant, Larry David, Bridget Everett, Jake Gyllenhaal, and Chelsea Handler. Oh, to be a fly on the wall!

Her new husband has connections to other celebs

Chris Fischer may not be a household name, but he's certainly made quite the name for himself within the restaurant industry. Fischer, who grew up in Martha's Vineyard, took over as executive chef for the Beach Plum Inn & Restaurant there in 2014. Two years later, Fischer won the James Beard Award for American Cooking for his first book. Titled The Beetlebung Farm Cookbook, the book details his love for cooking and the lessons (and recipes) he's learned over years working on his family's farm.

This isn't Fischer's first time amongst the rich and famous. According to Us Weekly, Fischer spent his twenties working as a sous chef in Mario Batali's New York City restaurant, Babbo — a gig he reportedly scored through longtime pal, Jake Gyllenhaal.

It was the result of a whirlwind romance

Schumer and Fischer's romance is a classic love story if you've ever heard one. Schumer split from her boyfriend Ben Hanisch in May 2017 after dating for a year and a half. Her rep told E! at the time, "Amy and Ben have ended their relationship after thoughtful consideration and remain friends." Breaking up is always hard to do, but Schumer certainly didn't waste any time moving on.

In November 2017, she was spotted enjoying a romantic dinner in New York City with her now-husband. A month later, fellow comedian and BFF Bridget Everett couldn't help but gush to Us Weekly about the couple with a simple, "Uh, yes!" She wouldn't say much else other than, "I'm happy that Amy's very happy."

During a 2016 feature in Marie Claire, Schumer opened up on what it felt like to be in love with her then-boyfriend Hanisch, saying, "Being in love is the scariest thing in the world." Hats off to this girl for allowing herself to be vulnerable, facing her fear of love head-on, and coming out on the other side happier than ever!

The wedding officiant was quite the character

Even the officiant was a celebrity — though you may not recognize him under all of that makeup! According to photos posted by both Schumer and John Early on Instagram, Early officiated Schumer's wedding to Fischer dressed in drag. However, Early's outfit isn't just your run-of-the-mill drag costume. Instead, Early officiated the ceremony dressed as "Vicky with a V," Early's original booze-loving, Southern accent-having mother and stand-up comedian character who made her debut in 2017 on Netflix's The Characters.

Early spoke with Vulture, giving the scoop on how Vicky with a V was asked to officiate the most talked about wedding of the year. "I got a text from Amy Schumer about three nights before the wedding that said, 'Will you officiate my wedding as Vicky? Adele backed out,'" Early said. Adele, girl, you missed a good one.

The wedding venue was made for (reality TV) romance

Love is in the air — especially at the gorgeous Malibu wedding venue Schumer chose for her ceremony. If you're a Bachelor fanatic, you might recognize the location from Arie Luyendyk Jr.'s first date with Becca. To quote MTV's Cribs, "This is where the magic happens."

According to the property's Zillow listing, the beautiful home boasts a floor-to-ceiling stone fireplace, a floating staircase, and an infinity pool. Oh, it also features "walls of glass" that open to a remarkable, sunny Malibu view. Who wouldn't want to marry the love of their life here? If you're looking for a summer getaway, this Doug Burdge-designed home can be yours for a measly $69,000 per month.

Schumer's wedding dress was love at first sight

Do you believe in love at first sight? If not, the story of how Schumer found her perfect wedding dress just might make you a believer. The comedian's longtime stylist, Leesa Evans, revealed to People that she woke up to a text from Schumer that read, "Text me when you wake up, Chris and I want to get married.' Evans and Schumer went to look at dresses later that day, an experience Evans described to People as "amazing and effortless."

The dress, a Monique Lhuillier A-line gown, features delicate lace details, a tulle skirt, and spaghetti straps. According to Evans, it was the first and only dress Schumer tried on. The celebrity stylist recalled to People, "It felt effortless and comfortable and that's really what she wanted." When you know, you know!

The happy couple wrote their own vows

When you marry a comedian as funny and successful as Schumer, there's no doubt you're going to have a chuckle or two during the ceremony. According to E! News, a wedding goer dished that the happy couple wrote their own vows, collectively lasting about "fifteen minutes" and getting "a ton of laughs from the crowd." One can only imagine!

Schumer's best pal Lawrence admitted that her happy tears were due in part to her friend's new husband's vows. She recalled to Entertainment Tonight that " [Fischer's] vows were stunning." It seems that Schumer and Fischer are lucky to have each other.

Schumer took to the dance floor with her beloved father

Fans of Schumer know of the star's special relationship with her father, which was the basis of her movie Trainwreck. Gordon Schumer, who suffers from multiple sclerosis and relies on a wheelchair to get around, was all smiles at his oldest daughter's wedding.

Schumer shared a photo on her Instagram stories (via Yahoo!) in which the father and daughter can be seen embracing as she sits on a white stool to level herself with her loving pops. Text on the photo reads: "My dance with my dad to 'hearts and thoughts.'" The Pearl Jam song, whose official title is "Elderly Woman Behind the Counter in a Small Town," is not your typical father/daughter dance song, but Schumer and her dad are not your typical pair.

Squashing pregnancy rumors and advocating for gun safety

Schumer, never one to shy away from speaking her mind, was quick to shut down rumors that she had a shotgun wedding. She posted a screenshot from her Notes app, which read: "No I'm not pregnant," and "No gifts but thanks for asking."

The funny lady and new bride then implores her followers to consider a donation to Everytown for Gun Safety in lieu of wedding gifts, writing "[I] thought of Mayce and Jillian a lot yesterday." Schumer's post, dated February 15th, came one day after the school shooting in Parkland, Florida. Schumer has been a staunch advocate for gun control since two women were killed by a lone gunman at a 2015 showing of Trainwreck in Lafayette, Louisiana. A smart, funny woman who uses her voice for good? It's easy to see why her new husband fell in love.

She's a last minute gal

The best things in life happen at the very last moment, right? Schumer obviously works well under pressure, because she threw together a fairytale wedding fit for a princess in under a week! A source reportedly told Us Weekly that Schumer sent out wedding invites to friends and family via a text message on Sunday that read something like, "Hey, this is happening. If you can make it, great. If not, no worries." The wedding took place on Tuesday.

It's hard to tell just how last minute the wedding was by looking at the photos. The bride and groom look effortlessly sharp. The wedding party is small, intimate, and elegantly clad. The guests can be seen laughing, singing, and dancing their hearts out on the dance floor. Schumer is proof that you can have the fun, beautiful wedding of your dreams without years of meticulous and stressful planning. Perhaps we should all take a leaf from her book!
