Of All Rita Ora's Looks, This One Stands Above The Rest
Despite being an international superstar, Rita Ora changed her name to give herself a better shot at making it. As noted by Architectural Digest, the singer grew up in West London, where she also began her singing career. As an actor, Ora has appeared in the "Fifty Shades of Grey" franchise (she played Christian's sister) and "Detective Pikachu." She's also judged on singing-based reality shows across the globe, including the British and Australian versions of "The Voice," and "The Masked Singer UK."
Ora is known as a triple threat; she's a singer, actor, and fashionista. "I feel free when I am creative," the "Hot Right Now" hit-maker told L'Officiel. "Having the freedom to express myself creatively, be it through music, acting, or fashion, is the greatest gift and I will never stop being grateful for it." She has a deep relationship with fashion and has made statement after statement on the red carpet.
In a conversation with Donatella Versace for Vogue Arabia, Ora declared that "fashion and music go hand in hand," while she also admitted to British Vogue: "Fashion was like the first thing that made me feel like I could be an individual." This is just one such instance when Ora dominated with her eye-catching ensemble.
Rita Ora made a statement with her feathery jumpsuit
While Rita Ora has undergone a stunning transformation in the public eye and worn a variety of fashion-forward looks in the process, her feathery black ensemble at the 2021 MTV EMAs was beyond stunning. Footwear News confirmed the jumpsuit was designed by Jean-Louis Sabaji, the shoes were Giuseppe Zanotti wedge sandals, her purse was the Jimmy Choo Celeste clutch, and Ora's jewels were from Stephan Webster — including a $26,000 pair of diamond and black spinel earrings.
As the official Jean-Louis Sabaji Instagram put it, Ora's outfit boasted: "A statement jumpsuit swathed in dramatic black plumes." Slim black pants led up to a strapless top that was accented with tall feathery stems covering her décolletage. The plumes continued around the back, leading to a train that extended several feet behind the singer, composed almost entirely of rows of black feathers.
Brazilian model Sofia Resing reacted to Sabaji's post by simply writing "Wowwwww," echoing the thought many of us had when looking at this ensemble, accompanied by a heart-eye emoji.
The singer's partner tried to make the look his own
Rita Ora attended the EMAs in Budapest, Hungary, with her then-boyfriend, the New Zealand-born writer-director Taika Waititi. Waititi, who helmed "What We Do in the Shadows," "Jojo Rabbit," and several "Thor" movies, had a lot of fun with Ora's lengthy train. He posed in the press room during the show with the singer's feathers draped around him, very nearly stealing the look from under Ora's nose.
The low-profile celebrity couple has since been rumored to have married in a small ceremony in August 2022, per People. After making their first red carpet appearance together at the premiere of "The Suicide Squad," Ora told Vogue Australia simply: "I'm in a great place in my life, that's all I'm going to say about that. I just think, respectfully, privacy is important."
She later broke that privacy, however. People quoted Ora as sharing, "I'm in love, very much in love," during an appearance on the "Jaime Winstone's Greatest Night Ever" podcast. The singer added, "I love love. I've always been such a believer in it and I always felt like — I always wanted the fairytale." As long as Waititi doesn't try to make any more of her high-fashion looks his own, that is.
