When Will You Finally See New Episodes Of When Calls The Heart?

Romantic period drama "When Calls the Heart" has become an unlikely mega-hit for the Hallmark Channel. Ever since its debut in 2014, the show — which follows the residents of Hope Valley as they deal with the trials and tribulations of life amidst a suitably stunning backdrop in the early 1900s — has gone from strength to strength. In fact, according to a recent press release, the ninth season was its most successful yet.

Hallmark confirmed that "When Calls the Heart" was the No. 1 original scripted series in its primetime slot, which, in turn, made Hallmark the most-watched entertainment cable network for women over age 18. Season 9 averaged a whopping 2.9 million total viewers.

As ET notes, the season ended (spoiler alert) with a romantic proposal as Lucas (Chris McNally) finally popped the question to longtime love Elizabeth (Erin Krakow). Elsewhere, Rosemary (Pascale Hutton) told Lee (Kavan Smith) she was pregnant.

Clearly, there are plenty of loose ends to tie up, and, judging by the details we know so far about "When Calls the Heart" Season 10, there's lots to be excited about. Here's when we can expect new episodes to drop.

Season 10 of When Calls the Heart is currently filming in Canada

The good news is that, although we won't get to see more installments of "When Calls the Heart" before the year is out, there shouldn't be much longer of a wait after that. TV Insider confirms that the highly anticipated 10th season of the hit period drama is due to drop in mid-2023, with filming currently taking place in Canada. Season 9 wrapped in May 2022, with the show renewed the following month.

As Lisa Hamilton Daly of Hallmark enthused, "When Calls the Heart' continues to push the limits as to what we can achieve with this show." She continued, "There are many more stories still to be told about the lives of the beloved characters in this series and we cannot wait for everyone at home to tune in to see what unfolds."

Series lead Erin Krakow said, "I am thrilled that 'When Calls the Heart' is coming back for a tenth season." She added, "With our amazing cast, crew, and talented writers, we can look forward to more adventures, laughs, tears, and stories of romance throughout the community of Hope Valley. We are so excited for all the viewers, especially the Hearties, to continue this journey with us!"

The actor confirmed she was heading back to work on "When Calls the Heart" with an Instagram post in July 2022. Krakow has been excitedly giving fans behind-the-scenes updates ever since.

What can we expect from Season 10 of When Calls the Heart?

Potential storylines for Season 10 of "When Calls the Heart" are, obviously, shrouded in mystery. But Parade argued that the show will most likely follow the continuing romance between Lucas and Elizabeth, presumably as they plan their upcoming nuptials, while Bill's (Jack Wagner) health problems could come more into focus. Elsewhere, Rosemary and Lee will be preparing to be parents, and the business surrounding the oil company, foundry, and mines will remain a major talking point as normal, too.

Most of the core cast members are coming back, including series lead Erin Krakow. Sadly, fans shouldn't expect Lori Loughlin to return for Season 10 of "When Calls The Heart."

Although the beleaguered "Full House" star, who was at the center of the infamous college admissions scandal, nabbed a role in the spinoff "When Hope Calls," Hallmark confirmed in a statement provided to Showbiz CheatSheet that it had no plans to work with Loughlin in the future. "She was cast by GAC Family, a wholly separate cable network not affiliated with Hallmark Channel or Crown Media Family Networks," the network stated.

Thankfully, there's plenty of drama to enjoy even without her character, who was cut out of the show all the way back in Season 6 anyway.
