The Unusual Way Meghan Markle's Makeup Artist Just Came To Her Defense

Meghan Markle's friend and makeup artist, Daniel Martin, has spoken out in defense of the Duchess following claims she bullied members of the staff at Kensington Palace.

In a caption shared on Instagram alongside a photo of himself and Markle, Martin wrote, "Because she isn't self centered, people can see the light in her. Because she does not boast of herself, she becomes a shining example. Because she does not glorify herself, she becomes a person of merit. Because she wants nothing from the world, the world cannot overcome her."

His caption was taken from a poem by the fourth century Taoist author Lao Tzu and seemingly shared in response to recent reports from The Times, in which the Duchess is accused of driving two personal assistants out of the royal household and "undermining the confidence of a third staff member." In the bombshell article published on Tuesday, March 2, a former royal aide branded Prince Harry and Meghan Markle "outrageous bullies," prompting the Palace to launch a full inquiry into what they describe as "very" concerning allegations, the Daily Mail reports.

Meghan Markle has hit back at bullying accusations

Elsewhere, Meghan Markle's former Suits colleague, executive producer Jon Cowan, also spoke out in support of the Duchess following bullying claims. Taking to Twitter, Cowan commented, "the Duchess of Sussex is a good person thrust into an unimaginable world. Having spent 3 years working with her in her pre-Duchess days, I saw a warm, kind, caring person. I know nothing of her current situation but she gets the benefit of the doubt in my book."

Per Bustle, Markle herself also responded to the bullying accusations at Kensington Palace. In a statement, a spokesperson for Markle said, "The duchess is saddened by this latest attack on her character, particularly as someone who has been the target of bullying herself and is deeply committed to supporting those who have experienced pain and trauma." The statement concluded, "She is determined to continue her work building compassion around the world and will keep striving to set an example for doing what is right and doing what is good."

Amid the controversy, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's tell-all interview with Oprah Winfrey is set to air on Sunday, March 7, during which the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are expected to address the intense pressures of life in the public eye and their turbulent relationships with other members of the British royal family.
